NHS CHOICES | William left us this great review on NHS Choices - if you'd had a good experience then we'd love to hear about it. "Today I had day surgery under a general anesthetic. I found All of the doctor nurses and ancillary staff to be caring helpful and efficient. They were very accommodating with one small difficulty that I had and also assisted me above and beyond normal with diet and liquids. I would have no hesitation in recommending SGH." http://www.nhs.uk/…/hos…/ReviewsAndRa tings/DefaultView.aspx…

Every member of staff I saw or spoke to was just so friendly and accommodating. There wasn't a single moment I felt alone or uncared for. Fantastic job guys and thank you so, so much!" http://www.nhs.uk/…/hos…/ReviewsAndRa tings/DefaultView.aspx…

Did you know its Biomedical Science Awareness Day today? Decked out in white coats, biomedical scientists play a vital role in helping clinicians diagnose patients. Today, Biomedical Science Awareness Day, Tracey Smith, explains what she and her colleagues do in the laboratories at Scunthorpe and Grimsby hospitals. The newborn heel prick blood test is usually the first encounter you will have throughout your life with biomedical science. Every blood test, tissue biopsy, swa...b or other sample taken in hospital or at your GP's surgery will be analysed by a biomedical scientist. Their work produces the diagnoses on which doctors, consultants and surgeons plan patients’ treatment. Their work is at the heart healthcare The awareness day is organised by the Institute of Biomedical Science and coincides with the 136th birthday of founder Albert Norman MBE. Wonderful team who looked after my father with bilateral subdural haematomas yesterday pm into this am. Dr Hassam(sorry if spelt wrong) who was excellent and Susan(sorry didn't get your surname) who displayed true nursing care and compassion along with the rest of the team. You could not have done better and are all credits to your professions. Truly an example as to why despite negative news the NHS is the best health service in the world

Went to the Endoscopy unit today for a Gastroscopy and was quite nervous to say the least. All the staff that dealt with me were good, explaining everything to me before during and after the procedure. They were all very sympathetic and understanding and very friendly too putting me at my ease all the way through. Even the advice regards spray or sedation was very helpful whilst not pushing me in either direction but helping me to decide. I went for the spray and whilst a little uncomfortable I do think it was the best way for me. Thank you very much to all the staff in the unit.

This is my fourth or fifth visit to Scunthorpe General Hospital, this one reflected my issues with what is a serious condition. They work tirelessly andI have nothing but the highest level of care and support given out ar every level. The food is great, and even though it looks like I will be here a while, I wil keep you up to date. Many thanks to everyone.

User

Thank you so much to Dr Syed and HCA Shaun today in A&E as well as the staff in CT. you have been absolutely fabulous today in diagnosing and supporting my little girl. Shaun you were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble ! You were amazing thank you again x

User

No one likes coming into hospital for anything but have to extend my gratitude to the staff on ward 27, gyny and theatre for the care. I would like to say it was a pleasure but those are probably the wrong words. But your care and compassion makes it so much easier to recovery. Always love to chat and no one person took offence to my sense of humour. You all do an amazing job under difficult conditions x

My daughter Sophie Louise Robinson recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

The staff on the Labour were amazing Hazel who delivered ivy was so nice she made sophie feel relaxed from start to finish. Mary who looked after sophie afterwards was also very nice. Both members of staff were kind and caring and they treat Sophie with dignity at all times.

Nothing was too much trouble they even looked after me and Sophie’s husband.

They was a lovely student nurse on that night who we first met at Sophie’s 20 week scan (sorry I can’t remember her name) she was lovely and we wish her every success in her nursing career.

Once again many thanks to all the team on the labour ward.

If I could even begin to explain how lovely everyone was to me yesterday, I’d be here forever!

After being ambulanced in from the hard shoulder of the M62, on my own, with a flat battery on my phone, and more than a little bit scared, every single person who I came into contact with was amazing.

I wish I could remember the names of the all lovely ladies who made me feel less alone, less terrified as a whole lot more reassured.

The amazing doctor who stuck with me from the moment I was wheeled in, and checked up on me, and filled me in on everything until I was moved out of A&E - and after, for that matter!

The lady who brought me a cup of tea - in a proper mug! You have no idea how good that tea was and how much it was appreciated!

The wonderful trainee nurse on the CDU who took the time to make me feel a whole lot less alone - I hope you get your iPhone back soon!

The lovely doctor on the CDU Ward who explained everything, and gave me options, and chatted to me about eyelashes, and talked me through the lumbar puncture I was terrified of.

The HCA who took everything in her stride, and didn’t make me feel like an idiot when I managed to yank out my cannula and make my bed, gown and floor look like something from a House of Hammer horror film!

I’m clumsy enough and accident prone enough to have experienced a few a&e departments, and I wish everyone was lucky enough to receive treatment and care like I did yesterday.

Ladies, I’m sorry I haven’t remembered all your names, and sorry I didn’t get to thank you all in person.

User

I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff on the Ambulatory Care Unit, and Blue Sky. The care I received whilst there was first class, the staff were friendly, professional and kept me informed at all times. They are providing an excellent service.

User

I was taken ill on Saturday 27th January with a severe Asthma attack - we went straight to A&E when it was clear i was in trouble.

Almost immediately into Triage, who once they saw my SATS rushed me straight into a cubicle and started Oxygen and the a Nebuliser and steroids - the relief was amazing - within 20 mins was much improved. Many thanks to both the Triage nurse who came back to see if i was ok and to the A&E staff.

From there it was into CDU for further checks and more nebulisers to be certain I was ok - again, the staff and facilities were excellent - very attentive and made sure i was ok regularly. I stayed in CDU until a bed was found on Ward 11.

Onto ward 11 and the amazing care continued, throughout the night and all during the day. Everyone was wonderful.

I cannot thank everyone involved enough - a wonderful example of how the NHS should be, and I'm amazed that SGH has such a bad reputation!

User

I want to say how wonderful all the staff in A&E and word 19 have been over the past three days after having a very scary miscarriage and emergency surgery. Their kindness helped me so much sorry i can not remember names but every staff member i saw was truly fantastic without them i wouldn't be here thank you

User

I have visited Scunthorpe's General Hospital many times and had different experiences. ( Mostly good ones). Today ,I was VERY impressed with Ward 19 staff ( ground floor Department of Obstetrics& Gynecology) attention that was given to me in a matter of emergency. I rang the hospital ( I had a treatment there on April 11th) and talked about my issues with Nurse Jo. She was professional, very kind and helpful. While I sat in my car waiting for her call she rang me back and arranged her colleagues to meet me at the Ward and get all necessary help. I was treated in minutes! The smiley doctor ( she mentioned she was from South Africa, Dr Faure?) who I met was very helpful too. I was given plenty of advice and was told to ring them back in case I am not well. A BIG Sincere Thank You to all of you - the lovely Joe, Alison and the other nurse who brought me medicines and wished me a lovely day ( I can't remember her name ), all ward 19 ! You are AMAZING! ďż˝ ďż˝

I have nothing but praise for the A&E staff at Scunthorpe general today. From the moment I arrived with my partner you were attentive, professional and knowledgeable. Your assessment skills were second to none and it was almost like you were able to feel my gut instincts that he really wasn’t too well. He was being treated in minutes. Thank you Dr Mohammed Aziz and the rest of the staff on shift today you don’t get half of the praise you deserve and I just hope this government and health minister start investing in you more

User

I have just spent two nights in this hospital after a dodge start in A&E. I was found a bed on ward 28 where the staff work non stop for hours on-end. Kate ward sister I think was brilliant in giving care while training a student nurse. I was then transferred to ward 19 where again the staff worked non stop ensuring I was well looked after.

I must say that ward 19 is the way every ward should be run. Staff very welcoming and made you feel like you got person centred care.

Ward 19 should be given an award for the care they give to paitents.

I was also seen my blue sky suite for CT and ultrasound who's staff also went above and beyond in the treatment I was given.

Its about time this hopital was given recognition for the excellent work they do!!

User

I have just got out of hospital last night thanks to the nurses going above and beyond in the Planned Investigation Unit (especially Vicky and Brenda). I've been in there a week now and seen first hand what an amazing job they do not just looking after me but everyone else to. Thank you so so much for everything you have done for me, without your dedication getting in to work through all this snow things could have been a lot worse for me. I can't thank or praise you all enough!

User

All the staff are absolutely amazing! From a&e to CDU to ward 23, the X-ray dept, ct dept, endoscopy dept, the doctors, consultants, nurses, the porters & the lovely ladies bringing in the nice meals etc I just want to say a huge thank you to you all. Each one of you had a smile, time to talk & helped any way you could. You’re all truly appreciated xx

User

Just want to say a massive Thankyou to all the nurses and doctors on Disney ward! Just got home after a 3 day stay with our ten month old after having a fever fit Saturday morning, cannot complain at the care she received one little bit!

Only one issue was the dinners wasn’t very good for a child with allergies, wasn’t till Monday we was offered an allergy menu, other times we was asked if we would “risk it” by the dinner ladies!

Absolutely amazing ward with lovely friendly nurses, doctors and consultants, Thankyou allďż˝

I wish the staff in a and e took things a little more seriously when it comes to so called sprains. I came in after an accident and was told my x Ray was clear I just had a knee sprain, however after having been referrers to an emergency mri by my GP I actually had bruising to my bone, torn ligaments as well as a full thickness tear in one. I am now awaiting knee surgery and having lots of physio to try fix it, perhaps if further investigations were done by a and e sooner I probably wouldn't have been in the situation I am now!!just because an x Ray is clear doesn't mean that it's just a sprain!! Its not the first time I've been diagnosed with a sprain when it wasn't either and I'm not the only patient who has suffered like this either!!

Recently returned from a procedure on my back at another hospital- was told by that hospital if I have any pain to go straight to my local hospital- which I did- to be sat there for 4 hours in pain and struggling to be given painkillers and basically just go deal with it- anybody who has a bad back knows how hard it is to sit waiting for no help basically, just felt like they wasn’t interested at all
