Teens and adults kumite practice at the dojo tonight

Some of our juniors have just started learning Seiyunchin, a higher level kata for them but one they were all very keen to study. Good development throughout. Well done to everyone for your hard work! Keep practicing!

Solid work by everyone in the dojo tonight. Sport kumite focus for the majority of the lessons with a little kata thrown in for good measure. Nice to see so much improvement, particularly from the ones learning some of higher or new kata for their levels. Looking forward to seeing many of them test their skills at the SRK Spring Open Championships in 3 weeks time.

Great classes tonight from kids and adults! Pad work working on kumite drills for the kids and adults moving on to using drills in their kumite practice followed by kata to cool down. And nice to see returning student Matt Amos Sensei Kim 👊🏻

Buzzing post grading classes at South Ockendon last night.
The kids classes worked in groups, while the junior grades covered kihon and moved swiftly onto some pad work, the intermediate group worked on tai sabaki drills with a partner.
Thank you to Sempais Arron, Tony and Kata for their assistance.
... The adult class warmed up with some HIIT sprints and Ido kihon, then onto tai sabaki drills which they put into practice for 20 minutes of kumite, ending with Sanchin Kata.

Three very busy karate classes at the South Ockendon dojo tonight. Beginners are starting their countdown to gearing up for the novice test next month. Good progress made, hope to see a few of them ready to test in a few weeks. Intermediate class got a nice little wake up call and then smashed it hard in their session. Excellent development on their kumite distancing techniques, finishing with a fun variation that put a big smile on everyone’s faces. The adults got to do lots of partner work throughout the lesson, using each other for speed, balance and strength training followed by plenty of action on the pads. Some great flow happening and good improvement made on the hand coordination for holding the pads, especially when it got challenging towards the end.
