Well equipped gym with super friendly staff that really care!

User

I think the classes at Rush are brilliant and all of the instructors are fantastic ! They are all really helpful, friendly and really push and inspire you . You can see they all well trained in Fitness and know their stuff! I have been to many classes in numerous gyms that cost a lot of money and for what you pay at Rush I think it's absolutely amazing . I especially love the Hit classes and would highly recommend them ! Great team , great gym !xxx

User

For £16 a month its pretty good. I've been a member ever since Fitness First run the gym in 2003. It has plenty of car parking and easy walking distance from the town centre. The only thing it hasn't got is place to properly relax after a work out, pity

User

For the price I pay it has everything I need I really enjoy the fight klub class and always machines available when I want to use them .. saying that I think I must manage to avoid the busy times lol which is lucky I suppose

User

4 stars because of the fact that its 24 hr's, which is great for me and my friends and work pals because we work in hospitatlity, so the only time we can all go to the gym together is late at night, i like that it is spacious and has a good variety of equipment, especially for the price, the entry/exit system with the code is awesome and feels super sci-fy and cool (added bonus). The things that i feel let down rush are minor things, like the lack of certain specific equipment, like a punch bag, weighted belt, etc. admitedly being as the nature of the gym is that its not supervised at all times, i can understand why some equipment, that is easily stolen is not provided. Another minor issue is the vending machine, often not stocked at all, never has any protein bars, i finished my work out yesterday and all that was in the vending machine was a slimfast bar with 0.9 g of protein, no gainz there bro! that being said, minor problems, you ultimately get more than you pay for, staff in the day are helpful, Ashley stands out as a good personal trainer, he has trained my friend with good results and Neil looks like hes built a good team of trainers.

User

Used to go when it was fitness first now it's rush has changed a lot from how it used to be, the weights room upstairs has everything there for you, the only thing I wasn't too keen on when you go through the security pass through the other side your in the gym. Have to go upstairs I guess to the changing rooms to come back down again. Didn't see no staff in gym or up in the weights room. The yoga class was good.

User

Place is great just the classes need some work.... Over heard some ladies complaining Bout about the spin class how they had to do it themselves because staff were ill... But I can't even get to book the spin class even if I wake up at 6am to book... Spin, body pump,, spin box all classes I used to love and why I use this gym but the classes are slowly going

User

It's okay for what I want and for how much I pay.

I haven't been able to go for a while due to work and other commitments, so when I went yesterday (Tuesday 7th March) and seen the same machine in the up stairs area that's been broken since December that had I sign on a one date, then go back after Christmas and it wasn't fixed, to only go back to see its still not working and will be fixed on the 28th Feb. Well it's gone past that date and it's one that I use. I does make me think what's going on, where does the money go that members pay each month. I know that they have revamped some of the area's but what about the machines that are used everyday by people.

User

For a cheap 24 hour gym, it's good. Generally when you want to use something, it's there when you need it.

But there are never any paper towels, even when it asks you to wipe stuff down, I doubt anything at the gym has been properly cleaned in a long time and the changing rooms DEFINITELY haven't at all, they always reek to high heaven.

User

They just don't seem to care. When I mention the fact there is no cold shower to use (as stated in their guide to using the sauna) I am told there is a tap!! When I suggest that this may cause certain health and safety issues, having old men sprawled naked on the floor in the entrance to the showers, well it's being sold so they are not going to spend any money on it! What a way to win me over. Won't be recommending to anyone!

User

The gym is good. Has great facilities, its open 24hrs. But here is my issue.... the mens changing room only has hot showers. After a workout, use of a sauna you want to cool down! Not heat up! Should you not be providing cold water also? There is a cleaning tap which I have seen several people use this to cool off and even shower under. Please please give us at least one shower with cold water. The ladies still have the mixers? Why cant the gents? If this changes then ill give you more stars!

User

Joined up in middle of Jan with my daughter as I wanted to get fit again, the place is a let down,it's dusty up in the ladies area (where you work out and where the medicine balls are) toilets are not always working, the wifi isn't great in the whole building, but what can I expect for a tenner a month.I'd rather spend the money on saving up for my own treadmill.

User

customer service, awful gym. As they took over Rush fitness but as everybody else emails went to spam file, apart from the ones asking me to join!!! When they tried to take a dd that was nearly double the membership I cancelled at bank. Spoke to Gym very unhelpful wouldn’t do anything to help even thou I was out of the country, didn’t even make a note and tried to charge me again the following month. Have finally sorted with Harlands at a cost. But basically Simply Gym = con artist/ scam artist with a falling to bits Gym

User

Went later last night was still so so busy had to wait a while to use the equipment. Obv not the gyms fault for being busy, however lack of equipment is a bit of a disappointment and the stuff they do have is so old, sweaty and run down. The whole place is run down. Such a shame.

User

They sent a marketing company to my house to look through my window. No apology or explanation.

User

Registered at this gym with the rolling monthly PT sessions membership. Downloaded the app however was never given the tokens to actually book any sessions. After complaining to the manager I was promised a call back and they took some details to book me in some sessions..this never materialised. Although the gym is 24 hours 'access' the changing rooms are not (which I couldn't see mentioned anywhere). The men's showers only chuck out (scorching) hot water with no way to turn the heat down so people are literally using a foot tap to cool off on the floor. Absolutely ludicrous. The gym is not well maintained with dirty walls and a broken upstairs water fountain. Never any blue paper towels to wipe down equipment. All in all I cancelled my membership after 2 months and never received the PT sessions I paid for. Strongly don't recommend this gym at the moment until they seriously up their game

User

My first review I gave a 5* now it's a 1 as I'm leaving. Been a member of rush for well over a year now and I used to love it. But now I actually don't want to get up and come here anymore. Equipment is always dirty or broken. It smells really bad downstairs. If you actually look at the floor you notice so many gross things. They charge an annual "maintenance fee" to fix the place up which basically means they half the changing rooms, and cut off the men's toilets so there's men in the women's changing rooms. Turned up for abs classes numerous times, and the trainer hasn't been there. Asked a member of staff once I've eventually found someone and no one knows what's going on. The trainers eat food through out the gym which doesn't really motivate me to eat healthy when I can smell pies and roosters.. and now they have the cheek to charge an extra pound a month? Don't think so, I'm leaving for another gym and I can guarantee a lot of people will agree with this.

User

I've been a member of rush since they acquired fitness first where I was previously a member.

Since rush took over fitness first, I have watched the club go into steady decline. The staff (when they are there) seem completely disinterested in any customer issues, the place is generally unclean and is often littered with rubbish.

The equipment is poorly maintained, and is not periodically checked. Only this morning a cable snapped on the pull down lat machine, resulting in the full weight of the bar and shackle hitting me on the back of the head under force, sustaining concussion. This was at 7.15, and typically no staff were on hand to assist!

Whilst I appreciate that this is a budget gym, this does not exonerate them from complying with any basic Health and safety and maintenance issues!

To add insult to injury, Rush also periodically takes 'random' additional payments from accounts, under the premise of being 'club improvement contributions'. The gym market locally is extremely competitive, and rush will continue to haemorrhage members unless they start to provide basic customer sevice and review the cleanliness and maintenance of equipment at there clubs.

I for one have had enough and will be terminating my membership, in addition to notifying the authorities of the health and safely issues that need to be addressed.

User

I disgusted at the fact I have been charged near enough double then my normal monthly charge (£26.99) without being told. As I didn't know I didn't leave enough money in my account and now have to pay £51.99 instead of the normal £14.99 I should be paying. How can you advertise cheap prices when you add such crazy prices to people's bills firstly with not asking then and secondly without asking their situation and seeing if they can actually afford it. I'm off to university and won't be able to go to this gym anymore. And with going off to university I used all my money apart from my bill money on stuff that I need so I didn't and still don't have the money to pay, but didn't you guys take inconsideration the people who may not been able to afford this? Not everyone gets paid at the end of the month and I was one of these people. Thank god I'm leaving this awful gym. They shut the girls changing rooms so women can't go to the gym late if they want to change, shower or need somewhere to put their stuff. Equipment looks dirty and there are always many machines broken. Only positive is its open 24 hours.
