food was beautiful, friendly service and quick as well, couldn’t fault anything here really lovely.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was awesome and the service by Leah was absolutely amazing! Couldn’t do enough for us all.

Will definitely be going back soon. Highly recommend.

Really enjoyed our Sunday dinner yesterday. The service was excellent. The menu had everything you'd expect plus a good variety of specials. There's Belhus country park nearby if you want to explore the outdoors. I'd recommend booking a table as we had stopped off a few months ago but the place was so busy (which is a good sign!) so we didn't get a table on that occasion. my steak was cooked to perfection 😊 We will be back, especially in summer to enjoy the lovely outdoor space !x

Not my first time and still great food and great service. Mentionned it was my friend birthday and the waiter came back with a cake and the band played happy birthday for her . Very nice touch.

Not been here in ages but went there Thursday evening with friends . I had the sea bass and thought the food was excellent and the service was very good . Would definitely recommend it.

I went there today for lunch with my husband. We have visited a few times in the past and thought we would go today as it had been a while. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was served in good time. Big portions and good quality. We will definitely be back.

I recently went to Sir Henry's for a birthday celebration. I have to say that I have literally 0 complaints. I really liked the atmosphere. I really liked the food. I really liked the service. The waiters did everything they could to accommodate us and looked after us in a very professional manner. Thank you Sir Henry's and Team for an amazing night.

Had there Afternoon Tea which was Lovely and the sandwich fingers where with thick bread so not little skinny sandwiches, scones were warm and the cakes were lovely to they top up your Teapot or coffee as much as you like would defiantly do it again xx

Had a great family meal this afternoon celebrating birthdays. Bailey was our waiter and he was brilliant. All the young staff are very good. Can’t fault the service.

We had a lovely walk with the dogs then it was fab to have a lazy Sunday afternoon with the dogs sitting quietly and happily under the benches while we let the music and sunshine enhance a few cold beers and a delicious late lunch.

I would recommend the chicken skewers...so tasty and my son loved the Sir Henry Burger.

The mixed grill was strictly for a very big appetite only!!

Came here for the first time last night and fell in love with the place. Lovely building, friendly staff, and the food was amazing. Don’t know how we’ve never been here before. Only bad thing I would say is the kids play area isn’t there anymore as we were going to take our kids with us next time �

Booked afternoon Tea for 2. The table was beautifully presented and the staff from start to finish were more than helpful. My 3yr old dropped her strawberry whilst I was talking one of the ladies who works there noticed asked her if she liked them and then brought her over a littlr dish without saying a word to me. Great personal touch x The food was lovely and great value will definitely be booking again x

Booked a table for 5 at 5pm on a Sunday I didn’t mention I was on crutches but when we arrived we I was asked if a downstairs table was preferred, it was going to take 10min to get it ready so I was asked if I wanted a chair while we wait which I decided. Whilst waiting at the bar a further 2 staff asked if I needed a chair, really kind of them. Our food was brilliant, my mother in law is a bit fussy and they catered for her brilliantly. My 5yo wanted chicken but they had sold out however the waitress came back after taking our order and advised the chef could do him chicken if he still wanted it. We all cleaned our plates a sign of a good meal! Would definitely go back fantastic service and food!

A local pub that we have been using for several years. Now our children have grown up, we use it often for a drink, snacks and the occasional meal. A good menu and a wide selection of various drinks. A friendly and pleasant atmosphere set in the Essex countryside. Top marks to the management and staff, thank you.

Popped in for a bite to eat on way home from Lakeside. Only midday and already very busy. Nice food, lovely surroundings, DJ playing the Blues in the background - perfect end to a glorious bank holiday weekend ��

Very tasty food and good service although a little disappointed that when told that the duo roast lamb/turkey had run out and asked for lamb/beef instead they wanted to charge an extra £6.00 !!!

Sat inside as weather a bit chilly Staffnice and friendly Four of us for lunch I had the prawn & crayfish salad was OK nut a bit uninteresting just a couple of tomatoes Avocardio & lettuce My husband burger had a burger which he said was ok One Chicken skewers and the other a chicken sandwich on granary but bread a bit too thick and dry

Nice place, had my uncles funeral wake there, I am gluten free, took my own rolls and there was no hesitation in them to fill them for me. Other food was nicely presented with cutlery and napkins already laid out.

Wasent very keen on the seating though, as they are long tables and it’s difficult to talk when your at the other end of the table.

Waiters and waitresses very helpful.

Went for a family birthday. I'm not judging the food at all that was lovely the atmosphere was ok. However, when we received our food and all our table said "oh do we get vegetables" to which a member of staff (I won't say who) replied I only have 2 hands so wait. We didn't mind waiting it was a general enquiry that this could of been handle better. It's the last thing you need celebrating a family members birthday and being spoken to the way we did.

Had high hopes from other reviews and people we know. Depends what you’re looking for but food on the floor, slow service and over long gaps between courses. Food was ok but nothing special, basically a Harvester with less on the menu to be honest

Food was good and our waitress was fabulous, but minus three stars for the atrocious attitude we were given by the two female managers. (They know who they are.) I rarely write reviews but here’s one I’m banging out because they ruined my grandpa’s SURPRISE 89th birthday celebration. And he had travelled all the way from Hong Kong.



We were there on Sunday night, reservation for a party of 22 booked WELL in advance (at least a month ahead) for 6:00pm, and the person that made our reservation advised that we would be able to get into the private room earlier to decorate. Some of us arrived by 5:30 as our grandpa was going to be showing up at 6:00. (Reminder again that this is a surprise dinner for his 89th celebration.) Upon arrival, we were told that there was a party still in there. Fine, no problem, we’ll wait for a bit.



6:00 rolls around and we are still waiting in the bar to get into the room. We asked one of the managers for an update and she rudely replies “we don’t know when they’ll be done, you just have to wait.” My cousin was coincidentally talking to another one of the managers/supervisors at the same time, and they told her “that party has the room booked until 6:30 so they still have time.” Wait, WHAT? So they were booked until 6:30, yet we had our reservation confirmed for 6:00 a month ago. ANY blame they put on us for being “impatient” is therefore completely invalid. Also, the passive aggressive comments and eye-rolling passed between these two managers (oh yeah, we saw them.)



Around 6:15, the party is up and leaving and we are told that we can head up and start setting up. We get up there and the party has paid, gotten up from the tables, and was well on their way out of the room. My cousin proceeded to put a tiny vase on the edge of the table while she was getting everything else out of the bag, and one of the managers told her quite aggressively: “How would you like it if someone was trying to hustle you off your table.” Okay, 1) the party is literally gone. 2) The vase is on the edge of table, and 3) literally no reason to be rude to us as none of this is our fault. Furthermore, the other manager kept making snarky comments to us: “I feel so bad for the other party, I felt like they were rushed out of here.” Again, not our problem. Yes, as a human being I also feel bad, but instead of blaming my party which was not at fault, maybe you should be directing your annoyance at who booked them in until 6:30, while allowing us to have a reservation at 6:00.



So, by the time we are finally able to start setting up, it’s about 6:30. 10 minutes later, we had everything finally put together, thanks to the fact that 98% of our party that was there was well ahead of 6:00pm, and able to put everything together quickly. The manager with the short blonde hair proceeded to say to someone else in my party: “I expect then that you will be adhering to the time limit as well and be vacating the room at 8:30? Your other guests are still not here.” Referring to my grandpa, aunt and uncle. Well, yes, as we mentioned to you three times before, this is a SURPRISE PARTY. My aunt and uncle had being driving my grandpa around the area constantly for the past 30 minutes, stalling for time as we hadn’t been able to get into the room!!! And at the end of the meal, we were rushed out of the room because it was 8:30. Some of our guests had literally just finished their last bite and had to get up to leave. One of our party guests didn’t even get to eat his dessert. And before anyone would like to reply with “well I’m sure this is how the previous party felt”, let me just emphasize again that we lost a whole 45 minutes because of the restaurant’s sheer incompetence.



At the end of the day, if it was an honest mistake and they were professional about it, we would not have minded at all. I know it’s Sunday and they are busy. However, with regards to these two managers: instead of remaining professional, they chose to be completely rude about everything, rolling their eyes at each other in plain view of guests, and making snarky comments to different members of the party. Whom, might I remind you, are paying good money for a surprise dinner, for an elderly grandparent that travelled across two continents.



I will finish off by giving praise to our waitress though. She was fabulous. Professional and extremely nice even in the face of pressure and being incredibly busy. Bar staff were also very pleasant. THAT’S how you do proper customer service. The two managers, on the other hand, might need a brush up on their communication and professionalism skills.
