October is baby loss awareness month, the following couples have all helped raise money for and improve the facilities at #Southend University Hospital’s Butterfly Suite, a safe and private haven that offers a family a safe and comfortable space to spend time with their baby and receive open visiting from family and friends. It’s a vital facility for families impacted by the death of their baby http://bit.ly/NR71b-2018

We are aware of some speculation on social media that cancer diagnostic equipment at Southend Hospital is being relocated to Basildon Hospital.
We would like to reassure members of the public that this is not the case and there are no plans for removal of the equipment.
Cancer care remains at the heart of the services we provide at Southend University Hospital.

One month ago I met our beautiful Daughter Lola. It was the moment my life changed forever, the moment I became a Mummy! It wouldn't have happened without the wonderful NHS staff at Southend Hospital. I will forever be in debt for the care they provided my family, and without them we literally wouldn't be here. We need to do whatever we can to save the NHS, it breaks my heart to see the news at the moment. Every member of staff that helped us bring Lola into the world were truly remarkable and they deserve so much more credit than they receive. They are under so much pressure, yet the care they gave us was second to none. They made me feel so comfortable and reassured in what was a very stressful situation for myself and my husband. We will never forget what they did for us.

I would like to say a big thank to Mr Hossain the Gynae Consultant, Mr Emmanuel and the staff on Eastwood Ward. I received first class service and care. I hope my condition improves but if it doesn’t it wouldn’t be a bad thing because I know I will receive great service from the Gynae team. I can not thank you all enough. Keep up the good work.

Not forgetting the Surgical Consultant Miss Himpson on SAU who saw me first. She ensured I was seen by the right team.

I was impressed to see the Consultants working in the front line. It makes for a fast and efficient service and reduces the delay in treatment decisions because the decision makers are involved from the very start.

I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in May this year. I thought my life was over. After a couple of appointments to Southend hospital, I was told at 70 years old I have another 10 to 15 years left yet. I start chemo therapy tomorrow, not looking forward to it. But the care and support I have received so far has been unbelievable. I couldn't have wished for better care. The doctors, nurses and auxiliary staff have been so professional and friendly and though they work in very difficult circumstances they do a wonderful job

User

I have been to Southend twice now for 2 eye operations, plus attended eye appointments. I found on every occasion I have found the staff to be very welcoming and felt I was look after very well. The second time I had my penetrating keratoplasty done I was naturally nervous before undergoing the medical procedure. I was consulted before any decisions were made and I had everything explained to me in great length by the staff on the eye ward. I found each of my experiences to be pleasant ones, and I cannot thank them enough for restoring my eyesight.

User

Having had 3 stays since February in Southbourne ward, I cannot praise the staff more. They have been so caring, understanding and have taken such good care of me during my ordeal with kidney stones. Thank you to everyone, am now at home hopefully recovering for the last time xxx

User

Got to say we have been here a Few times since moving up here and can not praise the hospital enough. We have always been in and out in less than an hour.

Had an appointment in the AAA scanning department today. We didn’t even get a chance to sit down when we were called in. Staff was so efficient and friendly.

We were out before we even had to pay for parking.

User

Eastward ward's staff are wonderful I feel very blessed to be looked after by such a wonderful team of people as good as any cruise team I've been on thank you. 💜❤💚💛 Nicola Burbidge

User

All of the staff from the ambulance staff who admired me, nurses on the shopland ward, my orthopaedic surgeon and his staff, anaesthetic team, the fracture-clinic/plaster room staff, physio therapy staff have dealt with have just been amazing helping me recover from my 5 month spiral leg fracture on 21t April, I can’t thank them enough for helping me to get my life back to normal. User

A massive thank you to all the wonderful staff working on the Margaret Broom ward, MB1 on Friday/Saturday morning when I had an unexpected overnight stay with severe pains at 7 months pregnant. The care was excellent, every member of the team was friendly, reassuring and professional. Special thanks to lovely Sophia who monitored me and my unborn baby through the night. We’re all very grateful and I’m feeling so much better! x

Shopland Ward. Shout out to HCA’s Charlotte Barry, Annabelle and all the night girls for maintaining my dignity, keeping me as independent as possible and just being a pleasure to be around. Even busy days you were so calm and caring. AP Oz was amazing and so professional as well as being thoughtful and informative. Sr Natalie Dewberry , sn Jean and Vicky Hall (patient flow) for all their care and advocacy for my discharge. Thank you to the rest of the staff for being so helpful at all times

This is not a review on Southend hospital but on the Southend hospital parking guy "behind the machine" rude!!! Rude!! Man.. considering all I asked for was abit of help. 28th August at around 7:15 pm

Remember people at the hospital are sometimes visiting very sick family members and do not need rudeness like I received today !!!

User

Really bad service, don't listen to what you telling them, the place is a circus your left unattended for hours not told anything that's going on, nobody really has a clue as to who is doing what, to many staff not enough people who really know what to do

User

Parking is an absolute disgrace, 3 machines not working, cues to every single car park, sat waiting 25 mins and still 4 cars in front of me. Queues into every car park.

User

I know the NHS are rushed of their feet..however my nan is there now (81) very frail and weak and she is too poorly to pick up her water/buildup shake and I believe that she is being left for hours at a time without anyone encouraging her to drink (no drip either) If she was able to drink more she would be less weak and less tired and be on the road to recovery. As a family we visit as much as we can, we pay our taxes and I really think some more care should be given towards her and the other elderly out there in the same situation.
