Steve's Funeral will be held on Friday 10th August at Bedford Crematorium at 10am.
Steve's family would like all of his closest friends, business associates and all that knew him and would like to pay their respects to be there. Following the service there will be a gathering at Sporting Targets Shooting Ground (Steve's second home) where we can raise a glass to one of life's most wonderful men.
Please no flowers. Steve's families chosen charity is Perthshire Gundog Rescue ...should you wish to make any donations to a wonderful cause that steve was fond of. Cheques for this charity to please be addressed to Perthshire Gundog Rescue SCIO and will be collected on the day. As well as Perthshire Gundog Rescue there will be a collection for a memorial bench on the day, should you wish to make a donation.

Thank you to everyone who shot our High Tower Challenge this year. Andy Nixon held High Gun for 7 weeks with an amazing score of 45/50! But Andy was knocked off of the top spot by Mark Winser on the final day with a fantastic score of 47/50. Well done to you both and to everyone else who managed to shoot their way to a prize position. Thank you to everyone for your support.

You may of heard that Steve Matcham passed away recently. Steve will be hugely missed by us all as he was a great friend. Steve’s family have asked if you guys have any funny stories, memories or photos of Steve that you would like to share in the comments box below or via private message. We will be creating a memory book. Thank you.

Sadly Steve Matcham, who many of you will know from our shop or as an instructor, passed away yesterday. This is a very sad time for us all as Steve has been with us for 20 years. Steve will be hugely missed not only as an employee but as a great friend too. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Andrew Clifton.

Visited for the first time with a member found the complex very well set out helpful staff was good visiting when a competition on to watch some very good shooters oh and not forgetting I had beginners luck hitting the first 2 clays in the Tower I will be back for more.

Very friendly @great shooting range for all.

Took my grandson yesterday and he loved it, very well organised and the tutor was great too. Will be going back soon

Really impressed by the level of service and expertise on our visit today. We were booked in for an hour and a half and ended up shooting for 2 hours. Our instructor was friendly and excellent at helping us being beginners, including a 10 and 11 year old. Would thoroughly recommend.

Our 1st time @ Sporting Targets & the ground is beautiful & very large, We were welcomed by Steve in the Gun/clothing Accessories shop as we arrived early as I was nervous.we went for a lovely Tea Foc & our 1st lesson & Steve our Instructor for the Morning He is a Absolute Star & great Instructor Teaches you not just at you & telling you , very clear on instruction & made so much sense Very Funny Guy Knows what he’s doing with over 20 years experience, I felt very confident with steve & really felt welcomed by everyone highly Recommended will be returning & hope to have steve as my Instructor again.

Living only 4 miles away, we use ST a lot. Staff are great, facilities excellent and the shooting has such tereffic variation that it’s really difficult not to have a wonderful time!

Just brought my first k80... well Debbie Burnage did for me.. thank you Steve & David for your help, advise and keeping my present a secret.. thank you.. :-)

My husband and I spent a very enjoyable evening with John who met our individual needs as he tutored us. We were not pushed to try anything we weren't sure about. A brilliant experience and we'll definitely be going back

I have just started shooting again after a couple of years break. Great place to go well layed out and a great variety of stands to have a go at the staff are always very friendly and so helpful nothing is too much trouble for them instruction is second to none, cheers Steve.

The food and coffee is always good and always tasty 😁👍

I attended a ladies day at Sporting Targets run by the Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club on October 22nd. I can honestly say that the day was excellent! Welcoming and helpful staff, a lovely clubhouse, a great course set appropriately for each shooting level, excellent coaching, couldn't fault it. Thank you so much Tess and team.

Had an amazing clay pigeon shooting experience today with a fantastic shooting instructor Bruce, would highly recommend it and will certainly be going again, thanks for a fantastic experience.

Had a really good lesson today with Steve! Definitely needed a refresher, and need the man by my side every time I’m out with the gun now!

Great shooting ground. A bit out of the way for me but definitely worth it!

All disciplines are catered for and customer experience is great.

I have a shooting club much closer to where I live just 5 miles away but choose to be a member of and shoot at Sporting Targets which is approximately 30 miles traveling distance, mainly for the variety of traps from beginner to more advanced and of course what I mentioned at the beginning.



Keep up the good work Sporting Targets, I’m looking forward to my next visit. �

Great place. Coffee on free vend so you can get a warm if you need it too. You can spend a good day here no problem great mix of targets to go at. It's a 1&3/4 hour drive for me but I will be going back soon.�

Good clean walk ways. Buggies available, we had one yesterday as a treat. All staff very helpful and friendly. Targets challenging but that is as it should be, no point in being too easy. Great day out. Give it a go.

Friendly and professional staff who are always happy to help. A wide variety of targets from Battue, Chandelle, Rabbit,crossers and incoming to high tower, quick input of scores on competition days to keep you up to date and great food. Well worth the the drive for me and always very enjoyable.

Christmas present from England to Ireland. Arrived early and was able to out with David. Could not ask for any more help with this being the first time. Great teacher, great facility, worth every penny and more. Thanks for everything.

Brilliant hours session, so well organised and our Instructor Bruce made the session for us. He was such a nice bloke and a very good trainer, very encouraging and very good in helping you aim off your targets and letting you know where you’ve gone wrong so can correct for the next round.



Will be visiting again.

Brilliant ground with brilliant facilities, constantly changing traps and layouts so it’s never the same each time you go , testing targets for all ranges of experience.

Very friendly atmosphere and staff very polite and helpful, have a few clay grounds closer but it’s worth the extra 20 min drive. Keep up the good work sporting targets �

A fantastic venue, the first time I drove in through the gates, I got the feeling that this is special.

Returned today to join the club. Maybe the weather, ( I doubt it) but all the staff where smiling and said hello or nodded.

As a new Clay shooter, it's alaways daunting going to a ground on your own. Here I felt welcomed and valued as a customer.

Very well run ground with cheerful efficient staff.

No trap breakdowns and only three no birds in our group of 12 x 80 targets. The rat was really good fun showing that the simplest of targets requires concentration.

This was my first visit and my first experience of clay shooting which I Attended with my friend Jan Palitis who is a member and was teaching me. I had an absolutely amazing day. The staff are very friendly, polite and welcoming. Definitely will be returning as I thoroughly enjoyed my day.

Not really into clays ? But was seriously surprised ?been a few times now and have enjoyed it every time ? Easy to use ,friendly and some great shooting to be had ,taken some friends and we have all had a great day ,the high towers are a real challenge, and the sporting section is excellent. Staff are on the ball as well and very helpful ,

I really enjoyed my shooting at Sporting Targets and as a result I will be coming back. Its a 2 hour drive but the very tidy layout, variety of targets, friendly staff and general experience is just what you would expect from a CPSA Premier + ground.
