All going to plan at Springlands today...The apple blossom is full of honey bees, Gert & Daisy are enjoying a wallow and the Tomato House irrigation system has been cleaned and tested...

Today was spent spring cleaning the cucumber and small tomato houses... spick and span and all ready for their summer guests. Meanwhile nature is busy filling the wild garden with colour, the Forget-Me-Nots, or Myosotis, seem to like it here at Springlands and who can blame them really...

We like to use sustainable methods of food production here at Springlands... like the homemade compost for the kitchen garden. The vegetable trimmings from the Kitchen Garden are fed to the hens, the chicken manure goes onto the compost heaps, the worms and micro-beings do their stuff, the compost goes onto the land, the crops grow and hey presto, we are ready to go round again!

We are pleased to announce that from today the stall will be open between the hours of 8am and 3pm for the sale of free range eggs. Trading is strictly contact free. Payment can be made using bank transfer, the details of which are displayed on the stall or by leaving the exact payment in cash in the usual way. Eggs may still be ordered and collected as before. Please observe strict social distancing, if there is someone at the stall please wait until they have moved away before you approach. If the road sign is not out we have sold out and closed for the day, if there are no eggs on the stall we have sold the last of the eggs for that day, please do not ring the door bell to make enquiries. If you would like to call the contact phone number during trading hours we will be very pleased to answer any of your questions.

Last of the Albert Bartlett Rooster seed potatoes going in this morning, world's finest spuds minus 120 days and counting...

We always like to see these guys in the kitchen garden, as soon as you start digging they pop over to see if anything has turned up by way of a snack...

The Springlands kitchen garden continues to provide plenty of exercise for the gardener... as Mary Poppins would say "a job well begun is half done". Meanwhile the pear trees are just about to blossom giving the weary gardener a boost...

We don't like to let the grass grow under our feet at Springlands so we are taking advantage of the dry weather to get another 120 sq.ft. of land under cultivation... this bed is destined for potatoes, appropriately enough Albert Bartlett Roosters...

We are pleased to announce that after successful trials of our egg ordering & collection scheme we are rolling out the service to all our customers old and new. Our Springlands, freshly laid, free-range eggs are now available to order at £1.50 per ½ dozen, for collection, contact free. It’s as easy as one, two, three…
... ONE… Simply place your order by text or phone on 07898 168683 (between 9am and 3pm please) or email at orders@springlandsproduce.co.uk leaving your name, order quantity and preferred collection day and time. TWO… We will get back to you to confirm your collection slot and payment method either by Bank Transfer prior to collection or cash on collection, correct money is preferred but change is available by prior arrangement. THREE… Pick up at any time during your allocated slot from our collection point at the top of the drive. Walkers and drivers welcome.
Finally, we would ask that due to serious supply problems could you please return your egg boxes when you have finished with them. Many thanks.

We have had a few enquiries about tomato plants in the last few weeks so today we are making a second sowing of Sungold Tomatoes...
We think they are the tastiest of all the cherry tomato varieties, wonderfully sweet with thin skins they produce a fantastic crop in the Springlands greenhouses from June through to October...

The Humble Egg Box.... standard cardboard 1/2 dozen egg boxes are now virtually impossible to obtain through the normal supply chain.
When, God willing, the stall re-opens for normal trading, we may initially have to sell eggs "loose" from keyes trays, therefore for convenience we advise our customers hold onto a working stock of boxes for their own transport needs.

We would like to thank Will and the team at Robson Feed Supplies for their sterling efforts in keeping us well supplied through this national emergency, the hens asked me to pass on their thanks too...

Anyone who has tried to get their chickens in row will appreciate this...

COVID 19 Emergency- Springlands Stall Temporary Closure
Please note that today, Saturday 21st March, will be our last day of trading until further notice.
We regret very much having to close but the situation is now such that, given that we have vulnerable loved ones to consider, we can no longer take the risk of running a cash based, face to face business.
... We are not going anywhere though and Springlands will be back, please follow us on Facebook to keep up to date and see what going on.
We would like to thank all our customers, old and new, for their support and kind words during what's proving to be the most exceptional of times.
