St Augustin'S, North Shields Description
We hope you enjoy finding out something about us from this Facebook page; but of course the real thing is always best, so do come along and be welcomed to our beautiful church. (You will now also find us Listed on English Heritage. )
Along with Christ Church we form the North Shields Team Ministry which is committed to being, "Rooted and Grounded in Love. " As part of that commitment our premises are used by Social Services, our local Councilor and, due to the excellent acoustics, many musical groups.
Our worship usually includes Holy Communion, meeting to share in the Lord's Supper, and has a reputation for being relaxed, friendly and welcoming. You will find details of the services elsewhere. We share a quiet Communion service with the residents in Linskill Park on the first Friday of each month, take Communion to other Residential homes and have contact with King Edward's school within our parish.
At the moment we are preparing for a period of interregnum. Our priest, Revd. Kath Cockburn, has just retired, our curate is now priest in charge at St. Helen's, Low Fell, and our Rector is about to leave to take up the challenge of Rector at Benwell and Scotswood. During this time our services will be led by a number of clergy from the area and we have 3 Readers (Lay Ministers) Reavley Gair, Barbara Bennett and Margaret Brockbank, so all in all quite a variety of us waiting to greet you and yours.
