Today is the Second Sunday of Advent. We remember ‘The Prophets’ and reflect on the way the birth of the Messiah was ‘foretold’. John, who proclaimed the Saviour, and Mary, who bore him in her womb, complete the picture. "Lord Jesus, light of the world, the prophets said you would bring peace and save your people in trouble. Give peace in our hearts at Christmas... and show all the world God’s love". Amen.

On the evening of Sunday 11th November 2018 a beacon was lit by the War Memorial at St Catherine's Church and Mike Fuller from Ludham read out the names of men from Ludham who gave their lives during the First and Second world wars. This was followed by the church bells being rung to remember all the bellringers who also died during these conflicts. Click below to watch the video.

Always & Forever We Will Remember Them
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky... The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. by John McCrae, May 1915

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby spent 3 days visiting The Diocese of Norwich which included visiting The Bread Kitchen’s community allotment in Great Yarmouth where he planted a tree with Mike Smith-Clare and Cathy Cordiner-Achenbach Co-Founders and Directors. After leaving the area Justin Welby wrote on his Facebook page “The Diocese of Norwich gives me hope for the church and for the world and I’m leaving here full of joy. May the love of Jesus Christ continue to uphold you and sustain you in all that you do.”

Happy All Saints Day Almighty God, who hast knit together thine elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of Your Son, Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow Your blessed saints... in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that thou hast prepared for those who unfeignedly love thee; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen Book of Common Prayer
