Panel Discussion - Thursday 25 April - 6pm - Seckford Theatre. Creative Expression - a powerful contribution to health and wellbeing.
Next week we are holding a panel discussion to look at the role creativity plays for us all to communicate and make sense of the world. If you would like to join the discussion, please email: karina.wood@stelizabethhospice.org.u k
As a hospice, we play a vital part in using creative expression for our patients and their families, to access emot...ions that perhaps they have not been able to express or to process. However this use of creativity as a form of therapy and to enhance wellbeing is not restricted to the context of end of life care.

We're celebrating today because an incredible 1,500 lovely people are already signed up to support our Midnight Walk on Saturday 11 May! We can't wait to see you all there as we rewind to the 80s. Even Woolly our mascot wanted to help us celebrate this milestone! If you're one of the 1,500 Midnight Walkers already signed up - thank you!

According to recent research, 48% of people admit that they 'haven't got round' to writing a Will. If you're one of those people, it's important that you do as many complications can occur after your death if you don't.
Throughout May, we'll be working with local solicitors and will writers to make this process easy for you.

There has been much excitement amongst patients, staff and volunteers recently as we have some very cute feathered friends here at the hospice!
The 13 lovely ducklings hatched here a few days ago and they can occasionally be spotted enjoying the hospice garden and pond.

Thank you to 'Debbie's Happy Soles' who will be walking in memory of Debbie Arthur at our Midnight Walk on Saturday 11 May.
The group of over 20 people include Debbie’s friends and family who promised to walk for her after she received care in the hospice.
The group said: “Debbie was a kind, loving and caring woman who loved a good party so doing the Midnight Walk only seems fitting in her memory!
... “Debbie faced her illness with such grace and dignity – she never moaned once and we promised her we would do the walk for her to raise money for this worthwhile cause.
“She received fantastic support at the hospice and we cannot fault the high level of care, kindness and compassion that was demonstrated by all of the staff.”
If you would like to support the group with their walk, visit their JustGiving page at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/de bbieshappysoles

One in five of the patients cared for by the hospice is helped thanks to gifts left to us by people in their Will.
Wills are important for many reasons but they also help your loved ones know your wishes and who you would like your estate to be left to. This May, we'll be working with local solicitors and Will writers to help make Will writing easier.
To find out who you can book an appointment with, visit: https://www.stelizabethhospice.org.uk/eve …/wills-month-2019/

The care for my mum, Barbara Rance, over the last 5 weeks of her life couldn't have been better. She was so happy there, right up until her last breath. All the staff, paid or unpaid are so very thoughtful and kind, taking time to talk and listen and take things at the pace of the patient. My mum was very fortunate to get one of the precious 18 beds there!!

User

Thank you for creating a peaceful and comfortable environment for my auntie and family. It was such a relief to see how wonderful the hospice and staff are. Thank you for making a hard time a little more bearable for us all .

User

Such a wonderful place to spend your last days. Our mum, in her last days, was well and truly looked after as well as all of her 7 daughters who were there with her at her passing - 8/9/16. The nurses comforted us all when mum passed and looked after our mum with such compassion. I only wished my mum would have gone for day visits before hand to see and enjoy the hospice more. Looking forward to the light up a life service in December xx

User
