First Class Jewellers

Stirlings Jewellers are the independent retail jewllers in Walsall. John Stirling opened the first shop in 1893 on Park Street (picture on right). In the early 1900′s, he made the short move to the Victorian Arcade where the shop still stands today.

When John Stirling passed away, his daughter, known as ‘Mrs. Stirling’ although she never married, carried on the business until her retirement in 1936.

John Parker, known as “The Chief”, then bought the business. He built upon the sound foundations and the business continued through the War years and flourished in the post-war era where Stirlings reputation for trust and quality became renowned. John Parker retired in 1984.

Chris Bissell, a long standing employee who had worked in the shop since 1964, bought the business from “The Chief”. Chris maintained the family traditions and values, employing his wife, son and sister Jennifer.

Upon Chris’s retirement in 2008, he sold the business to Gordon Allen, an established manufacturing jeweller located in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. The Allen family have been in the jewellery trade for 6 generations. Gordon was delighted when Jennifer Bissell, Stirlings’ very experienced customer manager for many years, agreed to stay on to work with him.

Gordon relocated his business to Walsall and continued the Stirlings’ tradition by bringing with him his family. Working in the business now are his two sons, Bradley and Brent. He also transferred his trusted Financial Controller, Chantal Matthews.

The Allen family and staff, are determined to maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction through professional advice coupled with the best selection of fine quality jewellery both new and pre-owned.

Stirlings’ shop window in the Victorian Arcade displays the many different types of jewellery available. Customers enjoy a modern air-conditioned showroom when taking a closer look at the jewellery. If they cannot find what they are looking for, Stirlings are able to source all kinds of products through their vast contacts. They can also produce unique “one off” items to customers own design specification for special occasions such as weddings or anniversaries. Other services available to customers are repairs and alterations to jewellery, watch repairs and battery replacement.

Since 2008 the business has been growing. The latest innovation is the facility to purchase unwanted or broken gold and silver items at competitive prices. Customers can bring their items in for a realistic appraisal with no obligation.

In 2013 Stirlings Jewellers expanded, we moved into Buxton and Bonnets unit next door in the Victorian Arcade. Stirlings Jewellers can now be seen from the front of the Arcade as well as inside the Victorian Arcade.

We continue to be a traditional family run jewellery shop in the heart of the West Midlands. Renowned for traditional values and experienced personal service in a comfortable well stocked modern showroom.
