We are still fitting alarms in Suffolk which tells us not everyone has one yet! 😞
A smoke alarm could help save your life if a fire starts in your home. Ask a friend or relative to help you check your alarms regularly if you are unable to do so. #TestItTuesday #FireKills

Today saw the launch of our #Aspire4Fire values at our Lowestoft South fire station. The group was formed in response to staff surveys from personnel to influence and develop work programmes within the organisation. Aspire stands for #Achieve, #Support, #Pride, #Inspire, #Respect, and #Empower which are the behavioural values that the Service encourages.
The group is made up of a number of staff from various operational and non operational roles at various ranks and is oversean by staff from our Human Resources team. #everyoneincluded #oneteam #Suffolk

These guys did a fantastic job in bringing the huge field fire under control in Hengrave today! Given the wind direction & ferocity it could have easily spread into the heart of this small village. Thank you!

It was a scary evening on my way home to find a fire starting up with thick black smoke. My first thought was to call out if anyone was in and then call fire brigade and then the mobile on the building sign. The fire crew came so quickly they were amazing I wanted to know that it would be stopped and then the owner who I had spoke to arrived and he unlocked the building which was a garage. It could have easily been a seriously dangerous situation for the fire crew but they just got on with it. It makes me cry at how scary it was. They managed to get into the building and put the fire out. No one was harmed.

For goodness sakes put fires out don't rely on someone to do it for you. Many folk said they saw the smoke and thought it was a BBQ it so easily could have been much much worse. The fire crew were amazing. The head fireman told the owner off and said I did the right thing.

I'm so grateful to the fire brigade they were totally professional and quick. Thank you for the service it saves many lives. It could have been far worse there were cars driving by, trees around the area, a hotel nearby and cars inside the garage that could have blown up and exploded.

Please don't take shortcuts. Fire is a hazard.

User

I would like to thank You all so much for a quick response in tackling the fire in Wattisfield on Tuesday afternoon. It was a scary moment watching the fire, flames and huge clouds of smoke forming in the air. Harvest started and suddenly I was watching the fields and couldn't believe my eyes as a huge cloud of smoke formed into the sky. I was so relieved to hear the fire engines arrive. Bless You all for your hard work in the intense hot day👏👏🙏🏅🚒

User

I was part of this Service from 1971 until 1996, the last 13 years of which I was Officer in Charge at Mildenhall in Suffolk, I enjoyed every minute of the Service working with a great bunch of Firefighters and helping the public in their hour of need. Keep it up Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service you are the best.

I have great admiration for the Fire Service. My husband served in Ipswich from 1965 to 1986, having transferred from Middlesex Fire Service. He retired on medical grounds. He is now 83.

Amazing response from the fire service who attended a harvest fire just now. Given how dry and breezy the conditions are today, they did a fabulous job and stopped a large fire that could have so easily spread! Thank you!!
