Animal Encounters is open for walk arounds everyday during the winter - Free of charge. Please note Animal Encounters isn't open as it was in the summer, the sheep are away to graze for the winter (will be back in spring) The Sulcatas have been brought in now for the winter And the Mediterranean tortoises are in for hibernation. At present there's no interaction with any animals or feeding and limited animals on show, it's just a walk and look around hence the free entry. We took our son here to look at a new pet. He enjoyed looking at all the animals especially the birds and fish. It was such a lovely sensory experience for him. The breakfast we had in the cafe was lovely. I will definitely be returning and already recommended it to all of my friends.

Me and my son visited today and spent 4 hours here. My son loved it, it took him a little while to gain the courage to hold/touch and feed some of the animals but with the enthusiasm and encouragement from Jamie he came away very happy. Jamie is a massive credit too your team in the animal encounter area, he works tirelessly to make sure the animals have what they need and that all visitors have a great time. He is very knowledgeable and keen. Wishing him all the luck for his new adventure.

We look forward to visiting again and seeing if the plans for further development have taken place.

Great value for money, easpecially with the free drink from the cafe with your wrist band

Just been to get some bedding for my snakes and decided to have a look round. We love looking at all the animals when we visit. So were really excited when we saw the animal encounters open and was not disappointed. Lovely mix of animals to get close to. With more to come. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will definately be visiting again. ☺☺

Lovely place to visit and always seems busy, well priced in areas we need and my daughter enjoys being able to see the animals and fish!

There was ALOT of turtles in the tanks when I was there last, very much overcrowded, but last time we were there they looked less crowded which was great! Some enclosures seem small for the animals, but I guess this isn't supposed to be their 'permanent home'..

Just very sad for the turtle in the tank which just swims around in circles up against the glass and has each time we have visited, it likened to captive animals pacing? Does he not perhaps need a bigger tank?

We went for the animal experience day. The kids enjoyed it but we weren’t overly impressed with the pens for the bigger animals. Absolutely no shade apart from a little shed that only one or 2 would be able to fit in. The sheep had thick heavy fleeces and nowhere to get out of the sun. All the emu were panting. Don’t know if that’s natural behaviour or not. Also far too many birds crammed into the aviaries. A clearly distressed parrot that had no feathers on its belly. I think you should have finished the construction of the animal experience making sure the animals had adequate enclosers before opening

I visited the shop today to buy stock for our garden pond. I found the shop well laid-out with a good selection of stock. However, my experience was rather spoiled by the surly service I received on reaching the till. No smile, no polite remark, no plastic carrier despite the fact that I had two dripping marginals to carry to the car and had spent a fair amount of money. When I asked for one it was slung at me with very bad grace. I'm afraid he was not a very good representative of the shop.

We’ve been going to Swallow Aquatics for several years now and I think the animal care has gone downhill.

Today..several dead and very sickly looking fish.. the Siamese fighters in their tiny tanks were filthy. Lots and lots of dead fish and some were hugely overcrowded .

All the birds looked ill, ruffled up feathers, although the cages were clean. Two dead ones on the floor, quickly scooped up.We enquired the price of the gouldians but the young man in there didn’t have a clue. The Macaw which I accept is a welfare case could only get to his food or bowl by hanging off a rope.. no perch so he could eat comfortably.

Seriously concerned re the welfare of these birds..sufficiently so to contact the management ..if no joy then we will be contacting the RSPCA.

Went today with my son to animal encounters and was little disappointed and worried about the conditions the animals were kept in.. Its was Very Hot today and there is very little shade.. fair enough there the odd little shelter but nothing of substance.. the area also seems to have been set up in a very baron piece of land.. eg. no bushes/trees for natural shade..no green (yes know not been rainy etc., but couldnt tell there would be much anyway), there was water trays and hope these are filled with fresh water regularly - felt sorry for the animals and didnt stay long. Over priced for what is there. - One positive, the staff were friendly.

Terrible all the fish die they try and blame us give us more fish then they die again asked for our £45 refund but refused. They tested the water but still wouldn’t. The guy who served us was cocky not happy at all. Lost £45 plus petrol money for 3 trips up there. Don’t buy from here !!!!!!!
