🍂 Although Autumn is here, it’s not too early to book your pitch at Swattesfield for 2019. 🌳
For next season we have re-structured our pricing from charging per pitch to per person and now allow our furnished accommodation to be booked out starting any day of the week. Dogs go free during the off peak season and we will now also accept 1 night stays during the off peak season. Children under 4 go free at all times. You can check out the changes at the link below:

We don't have a single booking for this coming weekend yet the weather is looking to be fantastic and the legendary Weird and Wonderful Wood is on nearby - did you know that in its smaller days the event was originally held at Swattesfield Campsite?! Why not stay for the weekend and check it out!

User

What a lovely little campsite. David gave us a lovely warm welcome. We pitched up in our usual spot in the second field between the lake and the woods. Lovely fire pit again to keep us lovely and warm. We used the pizza oven this time which was amazing! Facilities are just what we need-clean toilets and showers, a lovely new kitchen area with stoves and even a microwave. New shop selling camping gear, snacks and all important marshmalllows. We enjoyed the walk across the fields to Thornham Estate. A great second trip and we'll be back again soon.

User

We stayed here for 7 days in a Pixie Hut. Plenty of space for 4 of us- bed v comfy. It was brilliant. The site is peaceful with few rules. The site Manager Dave is a legend. Pizza oven, Flushing loos, Hot shower, running hot water, and shelter if you need it. We did a lovely walk from the site through thornham walks to the coach house for a roast. We will return next year

User

We loved this friendly, fun campsite.the children said it was their favourite ever, so many lovely touches and Dave is very kind.

User

WOW what a place, its just a field but what a field.

completely surrounded by hedgerows its contained, its safe and after watching 15 5-9yr olds playing tag with torches in the complete darkeness at 10pm as all the adults sat around a campfire i knew i had found the camp for us.

Everyone was lovely especially David the campsite manager, he couldnt do enough to make sure we had everything we needed including lending us some freeze blocks and swapping them for frozen ones when they warmed up.

there is onsite toilets that were clean and easily accessable, an onsite store that has all your camping needs as well as some other bits, things like milk, bread meat etc is available 5 mins drive away at the village store.

in the woods is a swing and monkey bars that my daughter wanted to go to all the time, as well as a play park and cafe about 30 mins walk (with a child).

this is not a large site with campavans etc its a very small site with a dozen or so tents, people were talking, chatting, drinking, eating and sharing together which made for an amazing experience.

The have a pizza oven on site that can be lit, the kids onsite loved making pizzas and we will be doing so next visit

thank you to all the people we met and especially the staff at the site.

this is a great site and we cannot wait to go back again

User

Thank you for a super and relaxed few days. We absolutely loved our stay and the kids had the best time. And a big thank you to Dave who was so lovely and very helpful. We will defiantly be coming back.

User

Super campsite for young children- it gave our 6 year old and 3 year old the freedom and independence they crave while we chilled and watched them make dens and make friends with other kids at the campsite. The pizza oven was a hit and we loved having a fire pit outside of our tent (so many campsites we've visited have a no fire policy which is rubbish!). The woodland area was ace for tree climbing and exploring and there there are some great walks from the site, to local parks, cafes and pubs. Highly recommend this site for young families. Forgot to add how brilliant the site manager was (Geoff i think?) - great with kids and slightly tipsy parents 😀.

User

Stayed in a bell tent last weekend, was simply perfect for our family of 5. Lovely friendly atmosphere within the camp site. Lots to do in the area, beautiful scenic walks on our door step. Toilet and shower facilities where best we have ever seen at a camp sight! Can't recommend this place highly enough! We will be back

User

My fiancé & are are tucked up in the blue pixie hut as I write this! What a lovely place. Dave is very helpful and friendly, the place is in great condition and these pixie huts are gorgeous! We had a tent pitch last night but as the weather was so bad and cold, we decided to upgrade tonight. So worth it! Lovely grounds, nice and open with the beautiful forest up at the top including a tyre swing (we had great fun on this!) Toilets & showers are also in good condition and pleasant to use

User

Lovely, friendly campsite - tranquil and great for kids. Really nice features like the open kitchen and pizza oven, too.

User

Just spent four lovely nights here. An amazing place, the boys had to be dragged away from the woods. Dave couldn't be more helpful.

User

Just back from 2 nights in a bell tent with 4 kids! Had a great time, the campsite is just the right size, clean and perfectly equipped! We will definitely be back again, the kids loved the woodland to play in and great location all round. many thanks

User

I love coming here - it's a place of solitude and calm for me

User

I cannot reccomend this camp site enough! I have camped loads and this site was by far the best! I stayed in a beautiful pixie hut with my Husband and two children aged 5 and 3 and My Mum and Step-Dad camped next to us. It was absolutely perfect! The pixie hut was totally pristine and gorgeous and very warm and I don't think I have slept in a more comfy bed! We had a shelter next to us with a BBQ. A fire-pit and a bench and quite literally EVERYTHING you need is there already...we just needed clothes and food and duvets. We BBQ'd every night apart from when Dave cooked us a pizza in the pizza oven! Every night we sat out chatting by a fire it was heaven! The kids loved every second of it and it was so peaceful and tranquil and really relaxing. Dave was absolutely lovely, helpful and very funny! He was excellent with the kids they loved him! He even let them feed the sheep! Thankyou so much Dave and we will absolutely be back next year!!

User

Fabulous place. They are so helpful in every single way. Location is so peaceful and the kids had loads of fun playing in a safe and secure environment. There are beautiful walks just on the doorstep. Loads of fun and would definately go back again!

User

Could only manage to stay one night, but it was a fantastic night camping in the woods! Lovely clean site nice toilets and washing up facilities and also a games room with plenty of books to keep kids occupied, there was also rope swings in the trees which even my 14 year old loved! Will definitely return! 😊

User

Chilled, lovely and relaxing weekend of camping here at Swattesfield Campsite. Massive thank you to Dave for making us feel welcome and looking after us! Will definitely be back next year. If you want to get away from it all this is the place to come xxx

User

Absolutely stunning little campsite, very safe and family orientated, lots to do, and the guy who runs it ( Dave ) is super helpful and friendly, cant wait to go back

User

A wonderful stay this week! Despite the rain we had such a good time, this is down to the campsite - lots of exploring to be done, great cooking facilities and activities in the communal kitchen. We can't wait to come back! Thank you to Dave for taking care of us!

User

A lovely relaxed friendly atmosphere, the campsite borders on the Thornham Estate (open from 9:00am-6:00p.m. to the public for walks, and with a cafe and restaurant) There are 3 areas you can pitch, each with a very different feel depending what you prefer - the main field (sociable, open feel and close to amenities), the upper field (slightly more secluded, pretty view over the pond) and the woods (out of the way and amongst the wildlife). The site manager was always on hand and extremely helpful. Hot water 24hrs and nice extras like a communal cooking area with gas stoves and microwave and dishwasher liquid, bowls and cloths provided at the cleaning stations. There is a shop which sells camping essentials and some non-perishable food. Gislingham stores is only a few mins away by car and has all the fresh and chilled ingredients, including a deli counter and off-licence. Only the campsite's own fire pits, and wood purchased from the site are allowed to be used. Whilst I didn't object to the firepit, I did find it difficult to cook using wooden logs (I am used to charcoal which is easier to control).
