Wonderful service and afternoon tea. I was impressed that the staff had noted my husband's intolerance to strawberries and brought him a separate cake stand with all his goodies minus the strawberries. All of the savouries, scones and sweet pastries were fresh and delicious. And top ups of savouries were much enjoyed. A good range of teas to choose from too. We came away very happy with a cake box of the treats we just could not manage. All in all a lovely way to celebrate my Mum's birthday - she said it would be a happy memory to cherish. Thank you!

User

Went for the first time today for my mum's 70th birthday as wanted to do something different, had afternoon tea, was great, the setting was splendid, the food and drink was excellent!! and the service was great!! Cannot wait to go again.

My 6 year old daughter and I came for the Halloween Afternoon Tea (along with Norbert the Dinosaur who was appropriately dressed as a ghost). All the serving staff were fantastic - kind, polite and happy to help us, even chatted with my daughter about her Dinosaur and her plaster cast (she had a broken arm). The food was excellent - the sandwiches and the scones were top quality, and the special cakes for the occasion were amazing, very tasty and beautifully decorated.

We love coming to The Assembly House for a treat, and these themed afternoon teas are perfect for having a mummy - daughter day!

User

I have visited here before for Afternoon Tea which was perfect. This time our visit was for breakfast and it was wonderful.

Whilst Norwich does have an abundance of breakfast eateries they are often too busy, too small and often have no tables. It’s too hectic for a breakfast environment.

The Assembly house is grand and elegant and each of the rooms have their own identity. We sat down for breakfast, it was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We sat at a large table by the window and took in the ambience whilst sipping delicious full bodied cappuccino’s.

There’s a wide selection on offer for breakfast and we both chose to have the Full English Breakfast. The added bonus I was able to substitute the black pudding for a sausage! Bonus! The food was beautiful, high quality ingredients and fresh produce. Perfect bacon, thin, full of flavour and not too salty. The breakfast wasn’t greasy and I didn’t suffer with indigestion for the rest of the day. It was perfect.

I think this may now be my go to place for breakfast. A perfect setting in a lovely environment away from the hustle and bustle of Norwich.

User

I booked afternoon tea for my daughters 3rd Birthday. It’s her favourite place. I made the staff aware of her birthday and they couldn’t have been sweeter.

When we arrived, they brought over her own mini stand of afternoon tea with a birthday brownie on top. It had happy birthday written on it and a candle for her to make a wish.

The staff, Jamie in particular, thoroughly spoilt her. They offered her her favourite sandwiches and even gave her a couple of slices of cake to take home as a gift.

The birthday card at the table was a really lovely touch too. It was so kind of you all. She had a wonderful day. Thank you so much!

Celebrated our wedding anniversary yesterday with afternoon tea . I am breastfeeding my three month old daughter and she has cows milk protein allergy . Was so

pleased when I found out you can offer a diary free afternoon tea. It lived up to my expectations and was delicious thank you . A real treat and lovely to know I can come and enjoy afternoon tea every once in a while . The staff were fantastic and each time they brought something for me they said what it was and highlighted that it was dairy free so I didn’t have the usual obsessive worry of having to question things when they arrived on the table . Not many places do this and it made the experience so much more relaxing for me . Also happy to see you offer a vegan afternoon tea as our son is dairy and egg free .

User

Came for afternoon tea yesterday, we were in the Hobart room from 3pm for my Mum’s birthday. Very enjoyable afternoon, the food was delicious!! The guy who served us was really attentive, polite and made sure our tea pots were topped up and bought out more sandwiches and scones highly recommend.

User

Both the food and staff were amazing !!! Would highly recommend going to eat here also the building is beautiful .

User

Booked for 2 nights for a wedding that was being hosted here. Ended up staying an additional night due to bad weather at home.

Every single member of staff without exception was courteous, helpful and engaging, this was throughout the wedding and our stay.

Nothing was too much trouble. The food was wonderful and the rooms (both public and bedroom) beautiful.

Thank you for a wonderful stay and for being so helpful when we requested to stay an additional night.

The team should be proud of their efforts, which really added to our visit

User

User

Absolutely the next place for afternoon tea, actually now enroute to try the Sunday Lunch. I always recommend The Assembly House due to the food being exceptional and the staff being friendly too. Love this place

User

Absolutely gorgeous Halloween tea yesterday to celebrate my daughters 5 birthday. 4 kids and 3 adults and every one of us had a brilliant time. Food was delicious and so well presented and quirky and the display cake in the entrance was a massive hit. The waiter who served us was lovely and chatty and looked after us really well. Would definitely recommend and we will be coming back again soon!

User

Very good value, tasty food, quick service

User

Really lovely afternoon tea. Accompanied by lovely music from pianist. We will definitely return. Very nearly worth 5 stars but the restaurant was full so had a bit of a wait when asking for additional pots of tea etc. That’s not a criticism but maybe another staff member would have helped on such a busy afternoon. Thanks. Hope to see you again soon.

User

I booked the Assembly House for my Mum’s birthday on Saturday, and they were so accommodating with various requests - down to an entirely vegan afternoon tea when I mentioned that my youngest child has an egg allergy (jelly instead of mousse, vegan cakes, plain sandwiches instead of the usual ‘grown up’ variations) meaning that she was fully able to join in and had a great experience. Mum had a glass of champagne and a special small cake with message and lighted candle. Attentive wait-staff, and a lovely ambience. Perfect pre-shopping treat. Thank you for having us, and catering to us so well. If possible could I have a copy of the menu as my Mum would like it as a keepsake to remember what she had (plus we’ve been arguing over the scone and toastie flavours!!).

User

The place was nice, the staff courteous, the tea refreshing (I had the fruity Darjeeling) and the fresh scone with clotted cream absolutely delicious - however the sandwiches were a BIG letdown - the brown bread dry and stale, we asked for replacement ham sandwiches as they were the worst, thick dry bread with a single very thin slice of ham, but the replacements just as bad, and the coronation chicken was almost flavourless (or possibly overtaken by the flavour of the dry bread). The white bread cream cheese and cucumber the bread was soggy, obviously the cucumber had been put in a while before and the moisture had soaked in making it somewhat wet and gooey. I would complain about there being so few of them as well but we didn't even finish the ones we had so there is no point! We were also promised a goody bag when we left which didn't materialise - although there were almost no staff left at the point we left the restaurant at 4.30pm. For £20 a head I would have liked much better sandwiches and for the service to be a bit quicker - we were seated about 20 minutes before being served (although it was busy).

User

I was there for an all day study. Good coffee on tap all day and lovely jugs of iced water. Nice room for the seminar.

Surprised at the strong cooking smells when we walked through the reception area. Especially the fish. I was pleased not to be eating in that restaurant. Is there a problem with venting?

User

We celebrated by sisters wedding yesterday and I can honestly say Jamie and his team were fabulous! Nothing was too much trouble, Jamie went above and beyond to make sure the day went without a hitch, catering for last minute requests and for the bride and groom to feel so special. We would highly recommend the venue and wonderful team here. Thankyou for making my sisters day so wonderful!

User

This was superb. The food was beautiful - aesthetically pleasing to the eye and lovely to taste. The service was fabulous. It was my daughter’s 30th Birthday and Ashe even received a birthday card! I came from Birmingham for this and it was definitely worth the journey. Highly recommended!

User

This afternoon, myself and others came to you for an afternoon tea baby shower. The service and food were 5*. The mini cheese toastie and chutney was out of this world. Thank you.

User

The music room is a lovely venue for recitals.

Lovely restaurant and great afternoon teas.

Just lovely surroundings.

User

The best afternoon tea! and no problem with a vegan choice - All so tasty and well presented, love all the different flavours! and a huge selection of teas too. The service is impeccable and unrushed. and glad there are doggy bags to take away! Love the fact that the menu changes too, so each time we go, its a different choice!

My family and I came for the eggstra-ordinary Easter afternoon tea yesterday. Just wanted to let you know what a lovely time we had. The Easter theme was fab and the attention to detail in your cakes is amazing! I also wanted to say thank you to our lovely waiter. Nothing was too much trouble and he was great with my daughter who is an extremely fussy eater. We do hope you will do another themed afternoon tea soon!

User

User

User
