At monthly Open Mic Nights in Blean Tavern, Canterbury, four alleged musicians became a 'house band' for backing guests. Somehow, we got away with it.
NOW we do that at The Ship, Herne Bay, on the 2nd Weds each month. Come on down. We also do real gigs.

During once monthly Wednesday evenings at the Open Mic Night in Blean Tavern, Canterbury, four musicians began to use their experience to form the basis of a 'house band' to both, back other musicians and singers and to play a few songs that they collectively knew.
The Backline Band was born, more from the shear enjoyment of playing than anything pre planned or organised and live gigs bear the evidence. Mind you, their rehearsals do seem to be almost as enjoyable, though there's usually a frenzied attempt to pack the gear away as quickly as possible, in order to take on some well earned 'refreshments' at the end of an evening!
Their repertoire includes music from The Eagles, Dire Straits, Queen, Bryan Adams, The Beatles, James Taylor, Ace, Eddie Cochran, The Shadows, Steve Harley, Peter Frampton, Free, Solomon Burke, Nick Lowe, Pink Floyd, Travelling Wilburys, Snow Patrol, Bobby Troup, Stray Cats, Steve Miller Band, Stevie Wonder, Thin Lizzy, etc. , etc. , etc. .
