We have started making our delicious cheesecakes again 😃

User

We sell the same kinds of bread and more as the café at farmers’ market in Bakewell.

User

A very happy couple with their wedding cakes.

Last couple of days for parents to treat your little cherubs to these delicious desserts before schools open.

User

Preparation for the day. It smells delightful here mmmmmmmm

User

Fantastic Eid celebration/ event. Lots of delicious foods, so much fun and laughter.

User

A customer left a note for Gareth. It’s such a lovely thing to do and much appreciated 🌟☺️

User

Have you tried our chocolate cake? Have you tried our carrot cake? They’re delicious, aren’t they?... So now try our hand made combined chocolate and carrot truffles with a choice of 3 toppings- cherry, walnut or white/ milk chocolate buttons.

User

All of our foods are made from scratch from fresh ingredients. You can’t beat the taste! Bread baked in a 137 year old coal fired oven at London Road Bakehouse. Meat and the salad leaves are locally grown and sourced.

User

Try our steak platter. The steak is locally sourced, the baby rockets locally grown and the Belgian fries hand-cut and triple fried.

User

Iced mocha with cream and chocolate syrup mmmmmmmm- totally refreshing

User

We are trying out chocolate orange cake in the café.

This lemon cake tastes as good as it looks 👌🏽

Visited here with my daughter yesterday on a trip out for my birthday what a fabulous place nice atmosphere lovely staff amazing food nice beer and wine and bread to die for I shall definitely be visiting again

User

The food is great and the drinks are delicious. Fantastic atmosphere in the café with the music complimenting the relaxed vibe. The music is a breath of fresh air and a change from hearing pop charts in most new trendy places. Their music adds to the atmosphere and I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon there :)

User

So glad we found this little gem today! Had a lovely lunch out with my daughter. Lovely food and great atmosphere! Definitely recommend! Picture of our lovely dinner in comments.

User

Popped into today for lunch whilst shopping. Had the delicious stew & a lovely warm bread roll. The service was friendly and efficient and judging by the number of people they had to turn away - a very popular choice. Definitely recommend!

User

One of a kind and unique.

Even bake their own bread.

User

Lovely welcoming staff and it was great to finally find a really nice café which caters for vegans and whose staff don't look baffled and confused on hearing the word 'vegan'. The chef was really helpful and friendly and our roasted vegetable sandwiches were gorgeous! We also enjoyed really nice coffees :) Definitely would recommend and my boyfriend and I look forward to returning!

User

It's a very welcoming and relaxing cafe bar. The food is freshly made to pre-order and there's a range of hot and cold drinks on offer. However, the best things on offer are the breads and desserts. All hand made and freshly baked. You can't beat the tastes!

User

I visit here regularly the cakes are beautiful and the staff are always friendly. I do recommend it to my friends.

User

Had a lovely experience here , low GI toast ( bread made on the premises ) and a nice pot of tea ! Very pleasant staff and good value :) I shall return !

User

First time I've been here and would definitely recommend it. Friendly staff, great food and a hot chocolate to die for oh and not forgetting a nice pint of green monkey to wash it all down with. Will definitely come back.

User

Everything made from scratch There's nowhere like this place. They even bake their own bread

User

1st visit today, impressed. Chip nutty nice😋 Food and coffee excellent. Cakes delicious. Will definitely recommend and return. Well done keep these standards and you will fly.

User

called in at lunchtime yesterday and ordered a chip buttie and chips and mozzarella but the chips were piled onto a piece of bread with a dry piece of bread on top - not my definition of a chip buttie?? My friend had the chips and mozzarella but because of an operation couldn't eat them all and the staff put them in a box for her to take home. The actual chips themselves were lovely, service was quick and the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Would definitely go again.

User

Tasty tomato and basil soup, wonderful bread and excellent chips. Friendly staff. It met our requirements for a casual lunch, just wish they'd had the stew available.

User

Came to your cafe today for lunch as it looked lovely and the menu looked very appetising. We ordered chip sandwiches, however the bread was extremely dry and stale. And one of our sandwiches even had mould on the bottom, we sent them back and asked for fresh bread and they came back with bread still dry and stale. We refused to eat this again and was very disappointed. Staff did apologise and we didn't have to pay for sandwiches however we did have to pay for our soft drinks and the manager was adamant about this.

Visited with my parents and friends who were over from Ireland. My elderly Dad had treated himself to an ice cream before we decided to stop for a much needed drink at this cafe bar. Four of us went in and got a table while my Dad ate his ice cream sitting on a bench. Just before finishing be wandered over to check which cafe we'd chosen and stepped inside to see if we were in this one. He was told he could not come in with an ice cream, he explained he was just trying to find us and was told again, in no uncertain terms, he couldn't come in with an ice cream! We all understand that he couldn't eat an ice cream purchased elsewhere in this cafe bar, however there is a professional and polite way to inform someone of this. There is also a way to be helpful such as, offering to check if his family and friends were indeed inside this establishment.

When he was able to come in, he sat with us and when we spoke to the manager (presumably it's the manager with the cap?!) who came to complete our order, he just said no one can come in with an ice cream regardless of age, saying they don't sell ice cream and they shouldn't have to clear it up. (Not sure what clearing up is expected from eating an ice cream in an edible cone that disappears completely with the last bite, but that's beside the point!)

Being fair if the food was fantastic I'd say so even if I personally wouldn't go there again out of principle, however just two scones were ordered and they were very dry and unappetizing. Coffee was okay, but mocha was small and overall the whole experience was very disappointing.

No respect shown to customers, clearly that is regardless of age too!

One to avoid in my book!

User

Terrible and disorganized service, food nothing special, and no awareness of food allergies.

Visited with my three children.

- Service was slow despite it not being overly busy.

- Ordered Soya hot chocolate (differentiating it from the three other milk ones I ordered) as I have a cows milk intolerance. Received it covered in cream. Most places are usually clued up to this.

- Food not particularly great. Half the chips soggy, and a pretty small lame mince pie for £1.95 (had much better from Aldi packet!)

- I noticed a huge area of food/drink all splattered up the wall high up, clearly overlooked or not bothered to be cleaned. Which makes me wonder what the kitchen is like if the public side is so dirty.

- My 8yr old Son waited very patiently at the till for a long period of time only to be flatly ignored. I then joined him, to continue being ignored and then upon briefly looking away, staff served a chap very obviously behind us. I commented on this and was very bluntly and rudely told he had kitchen food to serve with no attempt at apology.

I then proceeded to point this out to another staff member who'd served us earlier. She was apologic - not surprisingly, as she had seemed the only member of staff in the place who was particularly bothered, herself running around seeming to do most of the work.

This was my first time here (I usually go to the garden centre) and I shalln't return. Nor would I recommend it if you have children as they are not family friendly.

If we want the next generation to be polite, respectful and good with money, then adults and shops must support this. Not treat them so utterly rudely.

User

Poor customer service , rude attitude and total lack of professionalism. Neither me nor my family will ever return to this place again .

User

I went in today with my daughter. We ordered 2 bakehouse chip sandwiches on white & 2 strawberry milkshakes. The gentleman brought our sandwiches out saying 'I have put them on brown as it's really tasty & baked just down the road. I will change it if you don't like it' Brown bread is not what I asked for, but me being hot, bothered decided to just except it. I put mayonaise on mine & daughter tomato ketchup. After costing nearly £20 I was also treated to an upset stomach, which I put down to the mayonaise as that was the only difference in our sandwiches!!!

The actual chips themselves were lovely, service was quick and the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Would definitely go again.

Tasty tomato and basil soup, wonderful bread and excellent chips. Friendly staff. It met our requirements for a casual lunch, just wish they'd had the stew available.

Poor customer service , rude attitude and total lack of professionalism. Neither me nor my family will ever return to this place again .
