What a great place to eat and stay. Highly recommended. Evening meals and breakfast were plentiful and tasted fab. The room was really beautiful, with it's comfy queen size bed it felt like a 5 star hotel. Had a really good nights sleep. Attention to detail shows. All staff in bar and restaurant really friendly. Would I stay again, you bet I would.

We were driving past and decided to stop last minute for lunch and what a great choice. It was very busy as it Valentine’s Day and I explained I had a very hungry 10 week old baby I didn’t fancy feeding her right in the middle of the busy pub so the lovely man found us a table and showed us where we could pick from and asked where I would feel comfortable which was massively appreciated. Food was amazing! I would highly recommend the pie yummy! Will be back again very soon! Thanks for a lovely Valentine’s Day lunch �

We had our family Christmas meet yesterday at the Dragon - 6 of us from Hertfordshire and 4 from Liverpool. The staff were excellent- efficient and attentive. The food was delicoius, and there was a lovely friendly atmosphere. Two grandparents, four parents and four teenagers, including one vegetarian all very happy. We plan to come again in warmer weather and enjoy theoutside. Thank you.

We called in for a drink on Sunday afternoon and were soon tempted by the lovely looking plates of food we saw going past us. Great Ham Hock Terrine for starters, Carvery Platter for main, and a scrumptious chocolate thingy for dessert. All washed down with a couple of glasses of wine! Friendly atmosphere, efficient staff, good menu.

Perfect location! Friendly people delicious food very welcoming had an awesome stay here in the cottage too have been one of our favourite places to visit ever since our first time a couple of years ago

Lovely meal today & quick service. I put in the booking today was a birthday occasion and we would appreciate anything that would make it that bit more special. The lovely staff carried a Happy Birthday dessert board to our table whilst singing. Thank you it was a lovely surprise for the birthday boy �

Excellent service from start to finish. When I phoned up to book a table I explained I needed the quietest area of the restaurant to enable one of my children to join us for the meal, this was no problem. We had a very quiet area with fantastic service. Food was excellent and staff couldn't have done any more. I would feel confident booking a table here again to enable me to take my whole family out for a meal. Thank You.

Delicious food- I had the treacle cured bavette steak and it was lovely. The fat chips were yummy. The waitresses were lovely and helpful. Made for a very nice birthday meal for my Dad. Thank you.

Came here with my parents and nephew for the BBQ menu a couple of weeks ago. The service and the food was top notch and was very quick. Definitely be coming again.

Awesome meal last night. We eat here a lot and the food is always great but last night it was incredible! Couldn't fault it simply the best place to eat in Derbyshire. And the service was fantastic, especially considering how busy it was. By the way I highly recommend the pork belly. Nom nom :-)

Amazing Sunday lunch, really well priced in a gorgeous atmosphere served by the lovely Harriet who went out of her way to make sure all our dietary requirements were met including gluten free and extra stuffing! Harriet was so attentive and friendly and made a fabulous experience even more fabulous! Thank you x

Perfect place to sit outside by the river watching the world and his wife go by. Dog friendly location and friendly service. Nice beer (and olives!). We didn’t order food but the BBQ burgers were going down a storm.

We've eaten at The Dragon a few times now and previously the experience has been excellent, which is why I decided to book for my 40th birthday.

Unfortunately as this was May Day Bank Holiday weekend the pub was extremely busy, which is fine as long as it doesn't effect the service....however there in lies our problem. When we arrived at the pub we had to search for a staff member to let them know we'd arrived and the lady I spoke to who appeared to be in charge was neither welcoming or particularly pleasant, we seemed to be an inconvenience!

When reserving the table a couple of weeks prior I hadn't been informed that we'd be positioned right next to the bar which meant we had a constant stream of people walking past us.

Once we were all sat a young lady was assigned to our table and I must say she was excellent. Service with a smile and was always at hand to take our drink and food orders...she is the main reason why I have given this a 3* rather than a 2* review.

To top the evening off there were a lot of people there who clearly had been enjoying the sun a little too much and the language being used was awful, especially bearing in mind we had 3 young children with us, something we may have avoided if we'd been located in the dining area.

Positives - The food itself was lovely and the young lady who served our table was 5*

Negatives - Understaffed (bar couldn't cope), ill-prepared for a busy period (ran out of several of the beers), poor management.

We are lucky that there are several pubs of this type in the local area therefore unfortunately it is unlikely that we will be visiting The Dragon again anytime soon!

The service was too slow. We reached at 1900 hours. It took an hour to have main dish. Too many flies as well. Maybe, because the windows were open.

Not great, some of the Staff, especially the Barmaid need a happy pill.

Having ordered our food, We waited almost an hour to be brought the wrong food twice? 3 x Marie Rose Prawn salads & 2 x Marie Rose sandwiches pretty straightforward order. Our Waitress was delightful & very apologetic.

Bar wise, No Bells whisky, no Canada Dry, no bottled lemonade, no Sparkling Elderflower- can understand not having the latter.

Shall not be rushing back.

Having eaten here many times before, our party was very disappointed. Food not of the standard it used to be, the menu nowhere as good as it has been in the past and the prices have been somewhat inflated. We will not be returning tbe way it is now.

Passing by thought stop for breakfast had the full English x2 don’t think anything special for the price it costs.

have you closed down tried calling about 20 time to book a table, even tried booking online and won’t recognise any email addresses (tried 4) can you recommend anywhere else
