TO ALL CARERS AND FAMILY MEMBERS, THE OLD GARRISON PUB, Shoebury have arranged a visit from THE QUIET MAN (easy listening entertainer) for an afternoon of Music, Song and laughter for the older/elderly community, we have access for the less able bodied. He told us that the personal interaction takes them back “to the good old days” of their youth or other happy times. It also helps reduce anger or frustration and can lift their spirits. Seeing souls often lost in their own little worlds, is what makes his performance all worthwhile. We look forward to seeing you. Wednesday 24th April 2pm – 4pm

we were made to feel very welcome when we came to visit with our two dogs danni and barney. everyone was very friendly and the dogs enjoyed the fuss that was made of them. lovely place that caters for the whole family... will be sure to visit again!

Went there last night as very close to new house (moved in yesterday). Had never been there before under any of it's names. Food was brilliant. My steak was cooked to perfection and the chips were the best I've had in years. Definitely going back.

We stopped by this place on summer vacation. It is kind of off the beaten track if you are visiting Southend and it is a beautiful old English Pub. They were having a classic car show when we visited and it was real busy. That staff were great even though there was a lot of people on site and really good with the kids. They had a BBQ, bounce house, ice cream truck, vintage stalls. It is a real family place. We loved it and came back on the Tuesday before we left for the States. This time we had the sausage and mash and fish and chips which was really high quality, fresh and delicious. I definitely recommend to anyone who comes to the area.

This is a re-review if there is such a thing! My last one was one star back last year, this one though has to be a five since chef Jessie has been running the place. The food is fantastic, the garden is clean and tidy, nice place all round. What more do you need?

The food here is fresh and you can tell by the quality. Everyone in the soul music business like me knows that Chef Jessie is the best for Traditional English, Chinese and American Southern Cooking. She has cooked for members of Shalamar, Boney M and others. Shoeburyness is lucky to have her at The Old Garrison. The portions are a good size and it is top restaurant quality. Chef Jessie's food will make your tongue dance!

My husband & I would like to thank Eamon & Jessie for the service we received on Friday 10/02/17. We held my Mother-in-Laws wake at The Old Garrison. The food was lovely, it all looked really nice when we walked in. The rest of the family were really pleased with the way it all went too. Eamon is a brilliant host and Jessie' food is fantastic. Jessie and her team could not have been more helpful after having a birthday party here in the garden and function room. Lots of compliments on the food and how lovely it is to have a big garden for the children. Will definitely be back again. Thank you so much �

Had a great evening with a meal cooked by Jessie Tsang and entertainment by the very talented Freddie Lee. The food was great and entertainment was class. My wife Nicky and I have had a great time and didn't end up leaving till closing time. Highly recommended.

Great pub, good staff and lovely food! Shame that when people have a good experience they go home and think no more about it but when 1 or 2 in 100 have a negative experience they get straight online, therefore we don’t hear enough of the positives!

Lots of people keep returning to this pub and lots of people travel to get there so its definitely worth a visit �

First visit yesterday and absolutely deserted, 2 of us were the only customers. But it's a lovely pub, smart , good food and polite staff .However, I did really like it when it was the Captain Mainwaring,far more atmosphere. Will definitely return, as I would like to visit in an evening too.

Chef Jessie and the team are always on point. Me the boys (Sounds of the Four Tops) had the pleasure last week of dining here before show time. Great size portions, fresh home cooking. I just had my Sunday Roast and it ain't nothing but the truth (as we Americans say)! Awesome. So good to see all the little babies having fun too with the Easter Egg Hunt and Face Painting. Its turning into a real family place.

After a difficult start, due to poor management from a lady who no longer works at the pub. The new management did a wonderful job sorting out a buffet for our daughter's christening day. The food was what we asked for and more. It's was nicely presented and enough for everyone. It's a beautiful pub, with a huge outside area, great for the kids.

Fancied a drive out from basildon and have a good old pub lunch, decided to stop at the old garrison. Ordered our drinks ( coke for me ) asked for a menu only to b told the kitchen wasn't open that day. It was a Saturday so u would think that it would be. But disappointed to b honest, maybe I will try again another day as it was a lovely little pub

We visited sun lunch time for drink it was very quiet. My husband waited to be served behind a lady who was having a drink poured from the pump who spotted a hair in the drink ! The barmaid said its only mine and continued pouring it ! After that she ignored my husband and went for her coffee on the back ! My husband said it would be quicker to go to the next pub ! She was quite didnt care attitude ! Wouldnt go there again with service like this !!

Pub was empty whn we arrived still took ages to get served. Ordered food, took over an hour for it too arrive. Kids meal was wrong so had to wait for the correct meal to be cooked, and had to ask for the starter tht was meant to come with. Husband ordered burger arrived stone cold. I had brie in breadcrumbs was actually alright but came with apple sauce instead of the cranberry sauce it was advertised with. Just to be picky the carpet in the pub is awlful, can't imagine how youd go with a few drinks in you. It makes you feel sick just looking at it. I don't knw who's in charge but def needs a good makeover and a staffing overhaul. Will not be going back anytime soon.

Had a trip to shoesburyness yesterday. Came down from Newcastle for a few days. We decided to call in for some food. We were told it was £11.95 for a carvery. We decided to go for it, on getting to the hot plate, we were told there was only 1 type of meat. We were fine with that, but the only veg they had was roast potatoes, garden peas and carrots. It is an absolute disgrace being charged £11.95 for that. We won’t be going back ���

Tonight we met up as a family for my sons 8th birthday. We always meet up at this pub on a Friday evening and for any family gathering as my little one, nieces and nephews like to play in the garden.



Upon entering tonight, I was approached by the current landlord and told to leave as I was barred (news to me) Also barred were the rest of my family due to association to me! This was in front of my son, whom became very unsettled and upset about being told to leave.



When I asked him for a reason he reply was “you don’t like me so I don’t like you”



Now my reason for not liking this man and his wife is simple... my son worked here and worked hard for over a year until these two finally drove him out only last weekend due to their bullying. I have every right not to like them, having said that I’ve never done anything to suggest I don’t like them, I just don’t talk to them.



Let me enlighten you to something Adam.... if you were to bar everyone in the pub that didn’t like you, you’d have no punters left!
