The Priory

The Priory has been a wedding venue since 1992, and has hosted over 2000 weddings and civil ceremonies. At the heart of our venue is our barn, built in 1541 by James Needham, Carpenter and Surveyor to Henry VIII, and is regarded as one of the finest timber barns in England. The barn is surrounded by picturesque open space, complete with an ancient surrounding moat. This historic setting contrasts perfectly with a contemporary taste, or beautifully compliments a more traditional style. When you book your wedding at the Priory, you become part of the story of one of Britain’s most historic venues.

A wedding venue is more than just a room. It is a place where two people share a pivotal moment in their lives. It is a home to joy, to love and to happiness, and such an occasion deserves the real thing. The Priory Barn dates back to 1541, and as many of its original features have been kept as possible. Unlike many other commercial barn venues, what we have here is an authentic building in a beautiful setting. Thousands of couples have marked their special day at our barn, and we are proud to have provided them with such a genuine and pure setting.

When you book your wedding at The Priory, John and Karen will be there to hold your hand through every step of the process. There are no layers of management to work through, no faceless corporations pulling strings in the background and no shirking of responsibility from the organisers. We understand the fears, the risks and the challenges you face, and have over 25 years of experience in making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. We are here to make your wedding something that stays in your heart forever and will be on hand every step of the way.

Along with our rolling fields and picturesque views of the surrounding countryside, The Priory is proud of its intimate and personal atmosphere. At the centre of the venue is our beautiful barn, dating back to the 1500s with as many of the original features kept as possible. Inside it is spacious, yet cosy, with enough room to accommodate your guests and enough warmth for you to feel at home. It is iconic, it is remote, it is private, it is personal, it is beautiful, and when you have your wedding at The Priory, it is yours for your special day.

At The Priory, we understand that we are looking after something truly special for a lot of people. Many couples come through our doors every year and so many times, we see those looks of wonder and captivation that warm our hearts. One of the things all our brides and grooms seem to truly love about The Priory Barn is the true privacy we can provide in a unique, picturesque and captivating setting. We don’t come with the drawbacks of using a commercialised or chain managed venue- what you see is what you get. With weddings at The Priory, it is just you and your guests in a beautiful, 16th-century countryside barn, having a day to remember forever.
