It's just the best place, friendly staff, great atmosphere and food, the best local a girl could ask for.

I have never been treated with such amazing customer service like this. I was standing out in the rain and a waitress brought me an umbrella, the food was lovely. I can't stress enough what a great pub this is. As my girlfriend described it "it's got the atmosphere of a Lovely country pub, but in town" you won't find a better Pub in Ipswich. Period.

I have been going here for several years now, even though it is by far not my local. I have never been to a pub quite like this. During all my years visiting the Woolpack I have never felt unwelcome by the excellent staff. If you're looking for a truly exceptional country pub in the centre of Ipswich, the Woolpack is the one for you. Having read one previous review I can really struggle to believe there is any truth behind such allegations, most "youths" I know would have wanted such a childish altercation dealt with in a reasonable civil manner. Anyone that doesn't use their own name when writing a review and decides to hide behind a fake name surely isn't worth listening to anyway.

Great place, great food, great value, great atmosphere, out of town friends loved the whole experience. We frequently have lunch always good food.

Great little pub tons of atmosphere , good food but for some reason they serve everything on trendy Cold enamel plates which means the food goes cold .. Still great though

Eight of us had lunch at The Woolpack today. Great food! I have to say it was probably the best roast dinner I have ever had at a pub. Beef cooked to perfection, delicious roast potatoes and yummy cauliflower cheese. Puds delicious too although I was so full I had to just sample someone elses ;-)

After a busy weekend of travelling to Gloucester and Birmingham it was good to return to our lovely local for supper. Hearty food, decent beer and wine, friendly service (always) and a comfortable atmosphere. Good to be home.

This was my third visit for Sunday lunch.

Plus points for me are- Great Sunday lunch. Dog friendly. Good selection of ales. A few board games to keep my daughter entertained. Helpful staff. It’s cosy

Minus points for me are- the plates. I need my meals on a normal plate not a tin one like I would use on a picnic. It’s a bit ‘shabby chic’. It’s not nearer to where I live.



It’s a really good pub, great food. Shame about the plates. That’s not enough to put me off going again.

To many people on fireworks night ...great red wine & sausage rolls ...chips bland & tasteless ....couldn't find the cheese ...obviously doing something right to be so full ...but font let people fall asleep in chairs not drinking for 3 hours !!

We came yesterday for a roast which was very disappointing ,beef was extreamly rare and very tough and whole meal was Luke warm served on chipped enamel plates, the lamb was the same. I didn’t say anything as it was my daughters choice to go there as it was her birthday and didn’t want to spoil it for her.

I took my staff out for a lunchtime treat this week on Friday and order 5 of the woolpacks burger with the works?



Two of the burgers were under cooked and all of my staff was surprised to say where are works! Plain under cook mince meat burger with a chewy bacon any a small bowl of chips. Very poor food on this occasion and not a brilliant attitude from the waitress. I won't be taking anyone there again!
