👀 🥕 Today is International Carrot Day! There’s more to carrots than vitamin A. Carrots protect eye and cardiovascular health, and can even reduce the risk of certain cancers.

👀Always store your glasses in a case to keep them protected but also keep them clean and dust-free when you're not wearing them. 👀

👀 Rubbing your eyes after coming in contact with an infected person is one of the most common ways to catch a cold. A virus can quickly spread throughout the body by travelling into the tear ducts. Be sure to wash your hands frequently! 👀

👀 High blood pressure alone typically will not impact a person’s vision. However, high blood pressure over an extended period of time can cause damage to the retina’s blood vessels, limit the retina’s function and put pressure on the optic nerve, causing vision problems. This condition is called hypertensive retinopathy. It can be a risk factor in the progression of eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. 👀

User

👀 Our eyes need good blood circulation and oxygen intake, and both are stimulated by regular exercise. Regular exercise also helps keep our weight in the normal range, which reduces the risk of diabetes and diabetic retinopathy. 👀

👀 Have you been staring at a screen for more than 20 minutes? Step back for at least a 20-second break to rest your eyes! 👀

User

👀 We all do it. While it can be hard to break this natural habit, doing so will lower your risk of infection. If you feel an urge to itch or rub your eye or even to adjust your glasses, use a tissue instead of your fingers. Dry eyes can lead to more rubbing, so consider adding moisturising drops to your eye routine. If you must touch your eyes for any reason, even to administer eye medicine, be sure to wash your hands first with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

To all our patients
For the importance of the health and safety of all our staff and patients, it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close the practice at 5.30pm today until further notice.
Whilst the practice is closed, if you need to contact us, please do so via our website, by email, by phone. Please leave your name and the best contact telephone number and we will call you back.
... We are reviewing the situation daily, often hourly, and as it develops. We will do our upmost to bring you the latest guidance, and advise when we can open our doors again to you.
For our contact lens wearers, rest assured, we will be ordering and posting your regular supply of contact lenses as usual. If you have spectacles on order, we will advise you when they are ready, and discuss the best option for collection or delivery.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and custom. We hope you and your family stay safe and well during this troubling period.

👀 Cuttlefish have W-shaped pupils. Although colour-blind, they can see well in low light and can also detect polarised light, enhancing it’s perception of contrast. While humans reshape our lenses in order to focus on an object, the cuttlefish moves it’s lenses by reshaping its entire eye.

User

👀 Not sure glasses work quite like that, but they sure do help you see clearer!!! 😀

👀 Look familiar? Don't worry, you're not alone. It happens to the best of us contact wearers!
