For all you twitchers out there, rumour has it that a CettiŌĆÖs Warbler (library pic not from my iPhone!) has been hanging around in Winterton Valley for the past couple of days. Apparently it has a very distinctive call. Winterton Dunes is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and also designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with plenty of birdwatching and wildlife spotting opportunities.

A little bit of Winterton history which popped up on my timeline this morning.

We recently had a cancellation for a weekend away we had booked elsewhere so looked for another location last minute. We found Hideaway and it was just what we needed for our family break. A real home away from home. Beautifully decorated, comfy beds, fluffy towels, a really well equipped kitchen and a lovely gift basket for us and some treats for the dog. The chip shop, pub and beach all within a few minutes walk. It was also great knowing that we could contact the owners if we needed. Thank you for letting us be your first guests. We hope you get many more.

We have recently returned from a relaxing week in Winterton .

We stayed at the ŌĆśCrannyŌĆÖ a beautiful thatched cottage with a glorious old English garden .

The Cranny is a well equipped cottage with two bedrooms , it also has the advantage of two bathrooms! It is also dog friendly . The cottage is situated close to the unspoiled beach and also the Pub, where the meals are delicious .

We had a wonderful holiday and would highly recommend this property for a holiday stay as well as Winterton Cottages holiday bookings site .

We have just returned from a lovely week at Hillside Cottage. This is the third cottage we have stayed at in Winterton and was the best so far. Loved the conservatory and the lovely back garden. In a perfect location only a few minutes walk down a quiet lane to the dunes and the gorgeous beach. Highly recommended and will definitely return!

We have just had a lovely week in hillside cottage. The cottage is immaculate throughout and really is a home from home. The cottage is well equipped and the back garden is beautiful, secure and a really good size! The welcome basket was lovely and so thoughtful! The cottage is in a great location for all the village amenities and you are a short walk to the dunes to visit the cafe and beach. We would highly recommend.

We had everything we needed and the beach was only a short stroll away, over the fantastic dunes, the beach itself was beautiful and not too crowded and there were lots of seals to spot. The dunes cafe did the best vegetarian sandwich IŌĆÖve had for a long time and the Norfolk shortbread was amazing! We also sampled chips from the local chippy and they tasted just as seaside chips should taste ’┐Į’┐Į. We would definitely come back again ’┐Į’┐Į

A fabulous location, with wonderful walks over the dunes on your doorstep. The village is picturesque, and a great, dog-friendly pub on your doorstep. Would definitely recommend.

Sadly, our stay at Stone's Throw has come to an end and tonight we are at home missing the would burner, walking across the dunes, spotting seals' heads popping out of the sea and the lovely village and area around Winterton-On-Sea. Hope to get back soon for more relaxation and the home from home feel of the perfect cottage. Thank you for an amazing family break with our little cocker spaniel, who enjoyed it the most ­¤¢Æ

Recently stayed at Winnie. This is an adorable abode, with uninterrupted views (to the front) over the fields. It's within easy access to the dunes, beach, cafe, pub and more. A truly wonderful place to relax, unwind and soak in the sea air. Decorated to a very high standard and well equipped for a very comfortable stay. Fantastic!

Such a lovely place to stay, owners left us a wonderful welcome pack, Prosecco, divine lemon drizzle cake, biscuits, sweets, chocolates, butter, milk, eggs, two types of bread. Bob the dog was well catered for too with dog biscuits, a bed, water bowl, etc. Wish this was my home!

Just back from 6 nights at the beautiful Cranny. Stunning little cottage, very comfy with a lovely enclosed garden which our cockapoo loved. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday although would suggest the provision of an Iron and Ironing board and a small rug either side of the bed in the master bedroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cranny and would highly recommended this cottage and Winterton on Sea. Lovely pub, great fish and chip shop and fantastic dog friendly beach with the added bonus of the odd Seal popping up here and there!

I have stayed in many of the Winterton Cottages and they all are amazing and have the "Rachel" touch. The beds are so comfortable, the kitchen's superbly equipped all the furnishing are in tasteful with homely touches. All the gardens are dog safe and Winterton itself is so dog friendly. You can walk on the beaches all year round and the fabulous beach cafe even has huts that dog owners can sit in. There is a useful post office/shop, a dog friendly pub and a fish and chip shop. I have already stayed there twice this year and am booked to go back soon. I can not recommend Winterton Cottages highly enough; they are all ideal for a perfect holiday.

Having stayed in five of the cottages I think you can be assured that following our first stay we found exactly the sort of cottage we wanted to stay in and have never been disappointed. We have just returned from a very last minute long weekend at Cleveland House and had the most wonderful time. The beautiful garden and hot tub along with the comfortable bed and quality linen and generous welcome hamper together with glorious weather make it our favourite so far ! Well we have a few more yet to try ! We love Winterton and feel lucky to have found this site and Rachel. Thank you as always ’┐Į
