Emergency manhole repair at the entrance to an ‘aged’ red tarmac car park ... after a car wheel had dropped through the lid.
9-inches of reinforced pink(ish) concrete after rebuilding the manhole should hold it! ... hope it dries a colour and finish to blend in with the tarmac.

Wonderful customer this morning who gave me not one, but two of these little 'eye openers' - a Palestinian doctor who'd just finished a night shift .... a 15 minute drains clearance turned into a one hour conversation as one would expect with 8 shots of espresso! 😮

There are times when we are absolutely amazed by what people do when it comes to trying to sort out their own drain problems – I’m pleased to say that I would never do, nor ask our staff to clean out a septic tank soakaway from the inside with a bucket, when you can just as easily do it from the outside with the right equipment…
Credit to the one and only Steve Hey in demonstrating that he doesn’t just design great websites … but that his Yorkshire tightness of wallet knows no bounds!

Can't beat using a sledge hammer to break concrete on a sunny morning ... the customer said "you seem a little too educated for this" - I came straight back with "It keeps me healthy and humble, and if it's good enough for the guys that work for us then it's good enough for me - apart from that I'm addicted to the smell of sewerage!" - she almost cried with laughter.... and so did I!!

When a convent has drain problems over the weekend and you're met at the door by a nun - you just know it's going to turn out to be a somewhat surprising and very memorable experience .... unfortunately that's all I really dare say about this! 😌✝️

Interesting call this morning from a lady saying, “I’ve got blocked drains; we’ve had a company ‘round who said they couldn’t do the job because they couldn’t get the big heavy manhole lid up, as there are no lifting eyes ... my dad said if anyone could get it up you could... (cue lots of laughter) ... can you come and help me out please?”
Within a few minutes of arriving it was up .... and she was well rodded! 😮😂

Bit of ‘high altitude’ stuff this week; sorting out another company’s appalling work - the toilet drains now installed correctly running to the rear outside drains - instead of into the kitchen, which flooded with sewage when the drains blocked.

Big panic on Monday morning at The Old Vicarage Care Home - when none of the washing machines are working. The outlet pipework found to blocked with washing powder, strands of fabric and lint ... now cleared and panic over!

For what it’s worth for all those who had to leave work early because of the heat - it’s almost 9pm & I’m just home from a fabulous hot, smelly day in the drains business, leaving satisfied customers in my wake - a bit dirty & sweaty but nothing a shower won’t wash off!

Another mini sewage treatment plant installed to replace an existing septic tank in a customer's garden - brilliant for our guys (Lee, Tony & Kris) to hear the building inspector say, “this is one of the cleanest and most tidy finishing off to a job I’ve seen in a long time".... before signing off the project.
