As it's name suggest, 1 Midtown Cottages is nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Askham in the Lake District National Park. Askham is regarded as the 'prettiest of villages' and has 2 pubs, both serving food, heated swimming pools (August only) and a village store. Asham Hall, Lowther Castle , the river and Grounds are just a short stroll. Penrith is just a 3 mile drive away and has excellent shops. . . Cranstons Food Hall is highly recommended.
Surrounded by countryside, Midtown Cottage is an ideal base for exploring the local area. Walks from the front door are plentiful. Stroll over Askham Fell to Ullswater and Pooley Bridge or , for a more challenging hike, take the Roman 'High Street' to Haweswater. Non-walkers can just relax and enjoy! Over-looking the village green, this 4 bed grade II listed cottage retains many features from the early 18th Century. The cottage with attached stable (now the lounge) features stone window surrounds, beamed ceilings, stone flagged floors, latched plank doors and exposed stone walls. These features are further complimented by the use of the owners' antique and period pieces of furniture adding to the charm and character of 1 Midtown Cottages.
There is ample room for 3 cars to park in front of the cottage, off the main road.
