Today 104 (City of Cambridge) Squadron will be parading to celebrate its 80th Anniversary since forming back in 1939. Over the years the squadron has seen some magnificent cadets and been fortunate to partake in a wide variety of activities and local events.
Here are a few photos of the squadrons early years starting with some images of our first Marshall challenge Bowl winner CDT Sgt R H Reynolds. He later joined the FAA and as a young Sub Lieut on HMS Indefatigable. He was... MID for two aerial victory’s on an attack on the battleship Tirpitz over Norway. Flying CAP he intercepted and shot down the first Kamikaze a/c aimed at the fleet and shot down two more that day earning the DSC ,in 1950 flying as a test pilot he was awarded the AFC. He retired in 1972 as a Commander and was the only Seafire ace of WW2.
We would like to thank everyone who has been a part of our amazing history and thank all current members of 104 (City of Cambridge) Squadron for your continued support and dedication to the organsation.

Cadets from 104 Squadron have been doing some more shooting.
Last weekend, Cadets Kucernak & Pescod attended RAF Honington with the Sqn Shooting Officer, CI MIke Jenvey. Both of the cadets shot very well with the L98A2 rifle, which is a lot harder to shoot accurately than the air rifle. Cadet Kucernak had already achieved Marksman standard on a previous range day, & Cadet Pescod was on the way to catching her up, qualifying for the Trained Shot badge, but there was not enou...gh range time to move to the next level. Hopefully, next time!
The 2 air rifle teams have completed the first round of the Corps National Postal Competition. Count up the score on the card shown (ex-100); if the shot "breaks" the line, it counts as the higher score - the 10 "dot" in the middle is only one millimetre across!! Hopefully the official scorer will be generous with their assessment.

A history filled week at 104 (City of Cambridge) squadron! The cadets this week enjoyed a history lecture on rifles and bayonets used during WW1 and WW2. Our very own Warrant Officer King conducted the history lecture and told of his previous shooting experiences during his fantastic career within the Air Training Corps.

Four cadets from 104 Squadron, escorted by the Aviation Officer, CI Mike Jenvey, visited RAF Wittering for air experience flying in the Grob Tutor.
After watching a safety presentation, each cadet had to demonstrate correct use of the cockpit / canopy trainer & how to use a parachute.
Then they were each kitted out in flying suit & helmet, ready for their “Top Gun” experience.

Cadets from 104 Squadron spent a day on the Squadron's indoor air rifle range.
Five cadets qualified on their first progressive stage of shooting; 3 others (practicing for the Corps Inter-Squadron postal competition), re-qualified (just for fun) with very high scores.

Another busy weekend at 104 Squadron!
This weekend 104 hosted two activities lasting all weekend.
We ran a successful Youth First Aid course where 9 of our cadets took their understanding of first aid and applying it in a real life scenario to the next level. All 9 were successful in passing.
... The squadron also hosted the CVQO ILM course for almost 30 cadets across the sector. The cadets were busy all weekend and the activities were non-stop.
Well done to all on both courses!

104 Squadron Presentation of Awards ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Air Cadets from 104 (City of Cambridge) Squadron celebrated their outstanding achievements awards with a visit, inspection and presentation from Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier KCB CBE DFC ADC MA, Chief of the Air Staff.
Sir Stephen Hillier, the Chief of the Air Staff commented: “Delighted to meet the cadets and it was a pleasure to present the awards and see their enthusiasm for aviation; hope the exp...eriences they have received via the cadet force and the kind hosting by Marshall might inspire them to continue into STEM related roles in the future”.
There are strong ties between Marshall as the Squadron was founded in 1939 as a result of a joint initiative between Cambridge University Air Squadron and Sir Arthur Marshall, who became the first civilian Chairman of the Committee. Sir Michael Marshall is lifelong President of the Squadron.
Sir Michael Marshall commented: “Inspiring and recognising the importance of the future generations is incredibly important and it is a privilege that the Chief of the Air Staff has taken time to present these awards. It demonstrates his personal commitment to the Air Cadets and I am sure that many will never forget today”.
Flt Lt Henry Bowden RAFAC, OC of 104 (City of Cambridge) Squadron commented: “There are over 1,000 Squadrons of Air Cadets in the UK, so this was very special. It was fascinating listening to Sir Stephen and a real inspiration to us about what is possible.”
