11 Plus And Primary Tuition

Here tuition prepares children to have secure, solid and sustainable knowledge and skills in subject foundations, which they can carry forward.

I have been tutoring for other establishments for many years now, and last year decided to do it on my own when my daughter undertook the 11 plus exam - successfully. I have developed a flexible scheme of work from year 3 to year 5 which takes individual children's strength and weaknesses into account. This is why I keep the number of students in the groups to a maximum of 6.

Starting from year 3, children build their knowledge, understanding and confidence in core skills like comprehension, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, use of four Maths operations, mental Maths, KS2 topics and worded Maths problems. In year 5, they learn to master Non-Verbal Reasoning step by step, and continue to master the core skills in English and Maths. Children also get to sit mock exams so that by the end of year 5 children are ready and confident to sit the Eleven Plus Exam.

I am passionate about educating children and it gives me great pride seeing children achieve when they attend my sessions! I use approaches so that children gain a deep understanding of Maths concepts rather than a quick fix method. In English, children must have the ability to achieve at high levels in order to succeed in the exam. I have an in depth understanding of the exam, and children are prepared well to take the exam.

Children must be supported at home throughout the course to be successful. Parents will need to be committed and involved with the child on a regular basis.
