About 1151 (Wallsend) Sqn Atc

1151 (Wallsend) Sqn ATC

1151 (Wallsend) Sqn Atc Description

The Air Training Corps is the premier uniformed cadet organisation in the United Kingdom with over 60, 000 cadets and 20, 000 highly trained adult members of staff. Cadets between the ages of 13-20 have the opportunity to take part in a bewildering array of fun activities including flying, gliding, target shooting, radio communications, field-craft and adventure training at almost zero cost!

It is an incredibly exciting time for 1151 (Wallsend) Squadron; we have introduced a new training regime which will assist us in delivering first rate, relevant and up-to-date training for cadets and staff. Our numbers are expanding and the Squadrons recent achievements are far to numerous too list!

If you are aged between 13 and 17 years and think you have what it takes to be an Air Cadet, why not browse this website or feel free to contact me at oc. 1151@aircadets.org and I will be happy to inform you about the joining process and give you any other information you require. If you are aged 20 or above and wish to become an Adult Member of Staff, I would also be very happy to chat you about what you could offer the young people of the ACO.

On Saturday, Cadets Hudson, Enache and Milburn took to RAF Boulmer to engage in a wing L98 shoot! Our OC, APO Milburn, was also there helping with safety supervising and Weapon Handling Tests (WHTs). It was a great day overall and was the first step for cadets to achieve silver marksmanship badges!! Well done all.

Cadets from 1151 joined Staff and Cadets from all over Durham Northumberland Wing to consolidate their L98 rifle training and pass their Weapons Handling Test. They then went on to attempt (and some pass) their first Cadet Live Fire Practice. #OneBlueTeam #AirCadets.

Last night at 1151, we enjoyed a Barbecue and Bull night to welcome back those who have come back from exam leave and to celebrate all the hard work put in by the cadets during Annual Formal Inspection practice. It was a fantastic evening which all of us at 1151 thoroughly enjoyed.
Special thanks to APO Milburn for slaving by the coals all night!

Last night at 1151, cadets were taught by the staff and NCO team on the best way to prepare uniform. Here are photos of one team in the round robbin of activities which included shirt and trouser ironing, jumper preparing and how to tie a tie.
This is all done in preparation for the Annual Formal Inspection, one section of which is a formal inspection this year by the Deputy Wing Commander. As such the cadets are putting in full effort into thier drill practice and uniform preparation.

Last night we had a fantastic practice for the Annual Formal Inspection! The cadets and staff have all put in full effort during practices and it is starting to look fantastic. Many of our cadets have never taken part in an AFI so this will be a first for many. Well done all!

In remembrance of the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings, tonight APO Milburn taught the squadron about Operation Overlord. He covered the events leading up to, details of the events and the affects of them. • The staff felt that it was important that the cadets remember such events especially in a generation where people have fewer relatives who were alive at the time to tell their stories.
How did you teach D-Day 75?

Well done and a huge thank you to all the cadets and staff who volunteered to attend this weekends bag packing at B&M. You all looked really smart and worked really hard. You all did the squadron proud.
Also a massive thank you to B&M for allowing us to use their store and for being really so supportive towards the squadron. #aircadets #whatwedo

Last week, FS Milburn spent his time at Beckingham Camp training and rehearsing as part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets National Marching Band accumulating with a Beating Retreat outside College Hall in RAFC Cranwell. A fantastic experience and the start of his contribution to the National Marching Band!🥁

Last week, Flight Seargeant Milburn graduated as a Qualified Aerospace Instructor.
The qualification, referred to as QAIC , aims to deliver an aerospace course to senior cadets of the Air Cadets that combines academic and synthetic training in aerospace based subjects combined with personal development training and is one of the top qualifications a Cadet can earn.
Graduates, or Qualified Aerospace Instructors (QAIs), proudly wear the the blue lanyard on their uniforms and t...riangular QAI badge on their flying suits. They will not only have proven knowledge in a wide range of aerospace subjects but will be confident and capable instructors. www.qaic.com #qaic #aircadets

Just a couple of quick photos from the Tyne and Wear High Sheriff awards on Monday. 1151 received funds to help purchasing First Aid Training equipment. We've already ordered equipment to be used when training Cadets to deal with choking casualties.
