A big well done and thank you to all the cadets that supported the squadron at the wing Athletics competition at the weekend.
Numerous medals were collected in 1500m, discus, javelin and High jump... Hopefully some of them will represent the wing and the squadron at the regional competitions!

Last night our cadets and staff all turned up with odd socks on to raise money for charity. Sorry Sir about AP 1358c but it’s all in a good cause. Well done to all cadets and staff.

A big well done to the 5 cadets presented with awards last night. Two blue radio badges were awarded, along with two cadets completing their senior cadet lessons and one cadet completing his Method Of Instruction course.
Congratulations all, these awards just shows that hard work pays off!

Over the weekend we have had 24 cadets from 127 Sqn and 4 from 2388 Sqn Castleford taking part in their Bronze DofE expedition. All cadets did very well and all passed with some challenging weather yesterday. We would like to thank the staff from both Sqns and the Sector Commander Sqn Ldr Iain Kirk for all their help without them we could not achieve this.

Today was another DofE Bronze preparation day for our cadets they have been learning about cooking, navigation types of food and how to stay safe and deal with an emergency. Not sure about some of the food they cooked I was told it tasted better than it looked who am I to disagree.

Today, our cadets have been out learning skills for their forthcoming Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition. The day included a walk where cadets practiced navigation skills, and the cadets also spent half the day learning about camp craft, and emergency first aid, now they should all be ready for their expedition!

An array of awards were presented to the cadets recently! Including: 6 basic radio operators, 2 leading cadets and flight of the month awarded to red flight.

The 127 Sqn shooting team took part in the South & West Yorkshire Wings inter Sqn clay target competition. The team achieved a creditable joint 5th out of the 30 attending Squadrons. Cdt Kay missed out on a third place individual medal by just one point. Top job by all!

4 cadets flew for the first time today at RAF Linton on ouse. Each cadet took control of the aircraft and experienced the effects of g force on the body. They then received their first flight certificates.

As mentioned before, the squadron is having a cake sale, the date for this is the 21st of February. On this day there will also be a talk on the duke of Edinburgh award, however the reason for the cake sale is in order to raise money for the John Thornton's Young Achievers Foundation, a charity that provides bursaries for young people on there ventures which includes many air cadets. Due to this we hope that any budding bakers chefs and cake makers would be able to donate any cakes for the event to help us raise money for JTYAF. The cadets have been sent home with a letter about this, if you wish to help please return the slip or contact the page, any help is much appreciated. Thank you!
