What a delight it was to be asked to be a patron of the 13th Theatre Company. Having worked As a professional actor for over forty years, there has never been a greater need for theatre companies of this sort to be nurturing great talent and providing opportunities for people from all walks of life and ages,and the chance to express themselves and be creative in a frien...dly and caring environment. Many of my happiest experiences have been in the theatre with such internationally famous companies as The Royal Shakespeare Company and many performances at The Royal National Theatre, and the special opportunities offered by some of the less known groups I have been fortunate enough to have performed with, such as Newcastle’s Live Theatre, Salisbury Playhouse, Knee-high and Lipservice to name a few. The extra experience I have gained in the underfunded and brave companies has given me the insight and enabled me to to take risks that have born great fruit. It definitely gave me the necessary tools to use in more glamorous work such as filming Paddington 2, Peterloo for Mike Leigh and numerous TV shows such as Doc Martin, Downton Abbey, Coronation Street and Eastenders. I wish all involved in the Thirteenth Theatre Company great success in all their enterprises, be it confidence building, character development or artistic burgeoning... Best wishes, Nicholas Lumley.
