On 30 May we welcomed Wing Commander Helene Gould, Officer Commanding Sussex Wing, to our annual awards presentation evening at Shoreham Airport. After a formal inspection we celebrated the best that our young people have to offer in front of their families and friends. The evening ended with a short reception in the restaurant that included an amazing cake! Well done to all of our award winners! #winners🏆 #aircadets #team1440 #itswhatwedo #everyminuteofeveryday #shoreham #sussex #joinus #shorehambysea #avgeek #shorehamairport @ Brighton City Airport

One of the best things about having the country’s oldest airport on your doorstep is all the cool things that drop by for a visit! Yesterday it was the turn of the Sparflex Display Team and their Aero L39 Albatross jets! 😎 #aircadets #team1440 #itswhatwedo #everyminuteofeveryday #shoreham #shorehambysea #shorehamairport #avgeek @ Brighton City Airport

Good Morning! We'd like to say a very Happy Birthday to our former Air Commodore-in-Chief, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh! 98 years young today!
The Royal Air Force Air Cadets have a long association with Prince Philip who was appointed Air Commodore-in-Chief of the Air Training Corps by Her Majesty the Queen in 1952. He served in this position until 2015 when, at age 94, he handed over to HRH The Duchess of Cambridge. He still holds the position with our sister organisation the ...Royal Canadian Air Cadets 🇨🇦.
The ATC was chosen to pilot the The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in 1956 and we are still one of the largest providers of the scheme in the country, helping our cadets foster their spirit of adventure and push themselves to achieve new things through service to others.
Happy Birthday Sir! 🎂

Huge congratulations to our very own Flight Sergeant Harrison who achieved his silver Trained Shot badge during this camp. Also well done to Cadets Alford and Kelly for passing their Weapons Handling Tests.

Tonight our cadets took part in some D-Day inspired Command tasks, taking the role of paratroopers dropped behind enemy lines prior to the main invasion. Having landed away from their drop zone the teams had to cross a river before setting up a communications tower to guide in reinforcements. Leadership is a key skill we develop with our cadets and tonight highlighted how,by working together, they can achieve anything - just as the troops did 75 years ago today... #dday75 #dday75thanniversary #lestweforget🌹 #aircadets #itswhatwedo #team1440 #everyminuteofeveryday #shoreham #sussex #joinus @ 1440 (Shoreham-by-Sea) Sqn, Air Cadets

75 years ago tonight airborne soldiers were embarking on what Churchill called: “The most complicated & difficult (operation) that has ever taken place.” Dropping by parachute into occupied France their goal was to secure strategically important areas to disrupt the Germans and prevent them reaching the Normandy beaches. Some of those men were no older than our cadets are today...
