We are happy to report that our squadron has placed 2nd overall at the 2019 Wing Training Day helps this weekend, with victories in Aircraft Model, Flight Simulator and for the first time ever First Aid! This signifies the continued development of the squadron and improvement year and year, meaning next year its time to try being home the gold 🙂 well done to all our cadets involved this year, we are so proud of you all.

Are you, or do you know someone who is, aged 12 (in Year 8 )or older and want to do something different with your spare time? Why not take a look at the Air Cadets!
We are the youth organisation affiliated with the Royal Air Force and offer a wide selection of activities and experiences you just can’t get anywhere else. We offer academic qualifications, sports, marching, fieldcraft skills, adventure training, first aid training, travel (UK & International), Duke of Edinburgh ...Awards, target shooting and of course flying & gliding (places permitting) where you can take control of the aircraft yourself!
For a more comprehensive list of activities look at the pictures attached to this post.
Our unit parades Monday & Thursdays from 7:30 till 9:30 and it costs just £10 a month (some activities may have additional costs).
If you want to come down and see what we are all about just come find us in the grounds of St Joseph’s High School, or alternatively you can email us on 1471@aircadets.org for more information.
Do something different with your time, #NoOrdinaryHobby

Last night, cadets from 1471 (Horwich) RAF Air Cadets took part in Exercise Silent Night, a 100 minute silence to remember sacrifice made by so many 100 years ago. Cadets got sponsorship from friends and family to help raise money for the Royal British Legion and for the unit itself.
So far the total raised is £260, and we still have a number of sponsorship sheets left to collect in.
Thank you to all who sponsored our cadets.

2018 commemorates the 100 year anniversary of the end of The War to End All Wars, and as part of the remembrance events we are looking to our cadets for a very special fund-raising event - the 100 minute silence!
Cadets will be asked to get sponsorship from friends and family to stay silent for 100 minutes during the parade night on Monday 19th November. The squadron will parade as normal but cadets won’t be allowed to make any sound.
The money raised will be split between the Royal British Legion and the squadron #ThankYou100
