156 Regiment Rlc Description
The Regiment is now formed of 5 Squadrons spread over the North West but the history of our Regiment can be traced back to the formation of the Army Reserve in 1908. Since then we have gone through many changes to become what we are today; a modern, highly flexible Regiment, providing logistic capability in support of the Regular Army wherever and whenever it is needed.
Part of 101 Brigade, a regular Army Brigade we are linked to 9 Theatre Logistic Regiment based near Chippenham and regularly train with our Regular Army counterparts there and across the country. We have deployed on operations to Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan and Cyprus as well as exercises in Belize, Canada and the Falkland Islands.
Following completion of basic soldier training, all Reservists learn a trade qualification, in our unit we specialise in providing highly qualified Logistic Specialist soldiers, although we have many other trades including Chefs, Physical Training Instructors and Administrators.

Congratulations to LCpl Chau and Maj Tang for gaining their VRSM and VRSM 1st Clasp respectively whilst WO2 Greggan received his Royal Warrant, all from 236 (Salford) Sqn.
238 (Sefton) Sqn today attended @StEdArrKnowsley St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic School community engagement event hosting 600 secondary school children throughout the day.
Congratulations also go to Pte Connolly (238 Sqn) for gaining her Volunteer Reserve Service Medal (VRSM) and to Sgt Finnigan (234 Sqn) for receiving his VRSM 2nd clasp for exemplary and committed long service.
Whilst conducting his sub unit visit to 234 (Wirral) Sqn, the CO had the honour of #promoting WO2 Barr to Capt after he successfully gained a Senior Soldier Entry commission. Congratulations Capt Barr! @101_Log_Bde #WeAreTheRlc
As part of a communication focused training weekend, the JNCOs of the Regt have delivered section attack orders whilst the SNCOs and Officers went through a deep dive into tabletop planning exercises and report writing.
238 & 234 Sqn have both been supporting U.K. resilience training in Merseyside with both Military and Police units conducting helicopters training serials throughout the day and into the evening. #WeAreTheRlc @101_Log_Bde @NorthWestRFCA
Now that the Norwegian MTB exped has concluded, thanks must go to SSgt Argent and his team for organising and executing a fanatic weeks AT. It’s safe to say that all involved have developed in many ways and will look forward to similar opportunities in the future!

Yet another good news recruiting story. Maj Dowling has attested Pte Kerr into 238 Sqn. Congratulations and welcome to the Regiment.
Three members of 238 Sqn have been in London this week for some AFD focussed events, including a reception breakfast at 10 Downing St. The troops met various government officials and senior military officers inc Sir Mark Sedwill, (Cabinet Secretary) and Maj Gen Simon Brooks-Ward.
Day 3 of the Norway MTB Exped has seen the riders experiencing the old mountain roads of the Haukelister Pass at 1154m. Stunning views and bright sunshine set the conditions for a fanatic day!
This evening both the RHQ Admin Officer, Tina Speare and WO2 Day (238 Sqn) received the Merseyside Lord Lieutenants Certification Of Meritorious Service for consistently delivering above beyond the call of duty. Congratulations to you both!

The Norwegian MTB has kicked off with a ten mile cycle ride around Lake Vamarvatn to break the team in gently. It’s a shame that the U.K. weather has followed them over!
