Chefs AND soldiers, and so much more. Great weekend doing Back to Basic military training, empowering junior soldiers and developing leadership at every level.
The weather was disgusting, but the smiles kept on coming through the downpours. 😀
Teamwork, leadership, communication, battle casualty drills, weapon skills, equipment care, CPERS...Busy weekend-this is 167!

Exercise HILLTOP CAULDRON Day 5 - Another busy day for members of 167 Regt undertaking AT in the Lake District. Today’s activities saw groups climb/hike/walk Sharp Edge Blencathra, Knott, Tarn Hows then Hawkshead to Ambleside. Weather conditions were hit and miss (mostly hit for some). Spirits remain high and tomorrow the team will climb Scafell Pike and hope weather conditions improve for the views that may/may not await them all!

Exercise HILLTOP CAULDRON Part One!
The first group of personnel from 167 Regt RLC have spent the last two days in the Lakes (Ambleside) undertaking some well earned Adventure Training. Weather conditions haven’t been the best however fun had by all. Hikes included the Coffin Trail from Ambleside to Grasmere looping back over Grasmere and Rydal Water taking in the sites of the old quarry caves. Day two was a steady walk around Buttermere lake in the glorious rain!

Exercise ARMY SUSTAINER: the annual Army-wide catering competition also welcomed a team from the Royal Army of Oman, who competed in the Improvised class (where they came 2nd), the Field class, two Grand Prix teams, one Live Pasta entry and one Live Hot dessert entry.
It was great to see them get involved in so many classes, producing excellent dishes.
We look forward to see them compete again next year.

Exercise ARMY SUSTAINER: Competition was fierce across all the catering classes. International teams are always welcome to show-off their skills. This year some of the 16th Sustainment Brigade competed in the Live Fish and the Field competition, and we look forward to seeing them next year!

Wow! Is that Groot? Sculpted out of fat!!! And is that an eagle?? How is that possible?
Many congratulations to all of the chefs who submitted an entry into this year's 'Static' class of Exercise ARMY SUSTAINER. Equisite cake decoration or sculptural skill, imagination and incredible design was demonstrated in the entries.

On Exercise ARMY SUSTAINER one of the competition classes is Improvised... What is this?
At home in your kitchen you cook a meal with a gas/electric hob, and an oven? Here the chefs are challenged to cook a meal for 20 people using a self-made oven/hob system. They have to improvise with their very basic kit and equipment and see what they can come up with.
Incredible meals were cooked on the most basic of equipment.

2 Michelin star awarded chef, Sat Bains joined the chefs on Exercise ARMY SUSTAINER 19. He shared his thoughts on cooking, inspiration behind the development of his dishes and what drives him to strive for excellence.
Beautiful food; this "Lenton Lane" dish, (the Sat Bains take on a rocky road was inspired by the notoriously bumpy road to his restaurant in Nottingham) tasted as good as it looks!
Thank you Sat Bains for his superb demonstration and insights.
