When there are 1,000 lots in an auction it's hard to pick just a few highlights, but this local clock is one that's easy to fall for. We're sure it'll attract plenty of attention when it goes under the hammer on Tuesday 7th August.
Lot 1109: A late 18th century oak longcase clock having finial and shaped pillar hood containing square brass face and 30 hour movement by Barber, Winster, on shaped trunk and square base. Numbered 784

As England gear up for their next World Cup match tomorrow, we're cataloguing a fantastic collection of Ken Baily memorabilia.
Ken was "England's Cheerleader" for three decades from the 1960s onwards, having originally been the mascot of Bournemouth FC in the 1950s.
Recognised by his trademark costume of Union Jack waistocat, scarlet tails, white gloves and black topper, he was described by Peter Seddon (author of Pickles the World Cup Dog and Other Unusual Football Obituarie...s) as 'the only man to become both a freeman of Bournemouth and a Subbuteo figure'.
Ken traveled to 40 countries and traveled almost 200,000 miles in support of the England football team.
His collection will be sold at auction on September 10th and includes: his trademark costumes, autographs from his meetings with the Beatles and Bob Hope, the above-mentioned Subbuteo figure, personal effects, and an amazing file of photos and clippings - including photographic records and correspondence relating to his attempt to halt World War Two by running a relay on a liner as it crossed the Atlantic before presenting a petition to US President Franklin D Roosevelt.
The catalogue for the Ken Baily collection will be made available online and viewings will be offered on the Friday and Saturday preceding the auction.

We have super lovely customers so we're saddened to hear from Bill that he has had to ban a client from the site for the first time since he became 1818 Manager.
We had a small item stolen from last week's auction and our HD CCTV cameras caught the thief in action. The issue has been reported to the police and they will be taking further action.
Thanks to everyone who continues to support our business, we wouldn't be where we are without you!

Looking ahead to autumn, Garth and Bill are working on a new specialist area - mid century furniture and furnishings. Head over to the blog for more details...

This is my first time taking things there to be sold. Had to go by bus though don't drive. I got to Holme. Rang 2 taxi company's which were useless. So I rang 1818. Told them what was going on, so I asked if someone could pick me up. She said we will get someone to pick you up.

It'nt that thoughtfully of them. Bill picked me up. Had to bring my SM dog as well.

Got there what s big place. The staff & I had a good laugh while I was there. Very helpful. A good firm all work together. Would go back again sometime. Bill even took me back to Kendal to get the bus back home.

THANK YOU BILL FOR EVERYTHING.

User

The Best. The staff are fantastic, helpful and friendly. I don't feel silly asking questions, everyone is so kind. It's difficult to get there every week as I have arthritis, if l could l'd be there. There's alway's something interesting or beautiful in the auction. The café is wonderful, again the staff are always welcoming and helpful. The food and drinks are freshly made and tasty. I'm never disappointed, it's a lovely place. Janet x
