Cadets and staff from 1871 Squadron - Rugeley Air Cadets were proud to take part in #RestartAHeart day this year. We have retrained nearly 40 personnel in how to administer CPR! Resuscitation Council (UK) British Heart Foundation

1871 Squadron - Rugeley Air Cadets has purchased a large gazebo thanks to a very kind donation from the family of one of our cadets, after their grandfather sadly passed away recently. The squadron is extremely grateful for this generous donation; we will certainly put our new purchase to good use over the coming years!

This weekend four cadets have joined up with cadets from Stafford Squadron to complete a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition. The cadets walked to Cannock Chase from MOD Stafford and back doing a fantastic job of navigating their way through the many footpaths and trails on the Chase.
The cadets developed their camp craft and navigation skills as well as learning valuable lessons about packing their equipment properly!
A fantastic weekend of training in perfect walking conditions.

Today 8 more of our cadets got the chance to control a Grob Tutor aircraft whilst at 8 AEF Cosford. Flying is a key part of the Air Cadet training syllabus and all these cadets will go on to earn some progressive flying wings after further training. Pictured are Cdts Tovey and Birtles, both about to embark on their first flight!

We have now finished our digital training tracker and competition display which is displayed at our HQ on a 40" screen. Our cadets are actively using it to track their progress, see their next steps and monitor their flights performance. We hope you like the idea as much as our cadets do!

Tonight some of our cadets have been guinea pigs testing some 'Leading Cadet' training material. They worked in small groups to do research on the 'Navigation using Map and Compass' topic, using a brand new resource book to help them.

Tonight cadets have been developing their public speaking skills whilst learning about all the activities the Air Cadets has to offer. The cadets split into four groups and did short presentations to the rest of the squadron.

Our cadets had a great time with RAF Careers staff this evening. A few cadets and staff also attended a Freedom of Cannock parade practice for the Royal Air Force Association. A busy night at 1871!

Cdt Birtles and Cdt Tovey are just entering their assessment exercise at Bramley Training Area having completed all the formal training on the FT2 course. Good luck!

Staff from 388 - City of Stoke on Trent - Squadron have been trying out their new virtual reality flight simulator before it's delivery tomorrow! The simulator is the same as the one we have at 1871 Squadron - Rugeley Air Cadets and was built from scratch by 1871 staff.

User

We had a visit from OC Staffordshire Wing tonight who tried our state of the art virtual reality flight simulator, presented some cadets with their blue pre-Duke of Edinburgh Award Badge and had a look at our new training tracker.
We hope you enjoyed your visit!

Take a look at our fantastic new digital training tracker and see what our cadets have been up to this year so far. This tracker is always on display at our squadron so cadets can see what to achieve next.
1871 Squadron - Rugeley Air Cadets cadets have taken part in activities like the Duke of Edinburgh Award, First Aid Training, Radio Training and Flying. Cadets have also been trained in leadership, and have attended residential camps where they have took part in adventurous... activities like caving and climbing. Some have even received a BTEC in Aviation Studies and an ILM Level 2 leadership qualification!
Later this year we will be providing our cadets with some shooting opportunities and more flying and gliding experience!
