Congratulations and well done to all who attended Wing Atheltics today. Amazing, fantastic effort by all, special mentions to Sgt Pereira (long jump), Cdt Faulks (long jumps) and Cdt MacInnes (400m) who have all been selected to represent the Wing at Regional Athletics.
Full house tonight with guests from 209 West Bridgford Sqn, RAF Air Cadets and 2425 - Nottingham Airport Squadron Air Cadets Official, Tollerton, Notts to welcome Sqn Ldr Mike Ling, former Red 10, from the RAF Red Arrows.
Don't worry if you missed our open evenings last week, if you would like to join just pop down on any Monday or Wednesday evening up to 15th May to find out more!
Really great to get such positive feedback from parents! 😀
Today 4 cadets from the squadron visited RAF Cranwell to fly in the Tutor aircraft. All cadets took to the skies, with some experiencing acrobatics for the first time. Cdt Hemstock was flown by Fg Off Brown who is an ex cadet of 1936 Newton squadron and now a pilot in the RAF.
We are holding open evenings for all who may be interesting in joining our great squadron. Monday 15 and Wednesday 17 April.
Air Cadets offers a great number of activities from flying, gliding and shooting through to Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme, adventure training and many sports.
To join as a cadet you must be minimum age 12 and in year 8 or above. To join as an adult instructor you do not need to have any prior military experience, just a willingness to help out and join a great team.
Today the Squadron welcomed Air Cdre McCafferty for the enrolment of 22 junior cadets to the squadron. Air Cdre McCafferty, accompanied by representatives from Armée de l'air, also formally opened the squadrons new flight simulator. Wing Cdr Pass, OC South and East Midlands Wing Air Cadets, then opened the Flt Lt Joe Clark Heritage Classroom in memory of former OC, Flt Lt Joe Clark. All cadets in attendance did themselves and the unit very proud.
Last night the cadets undertook fieldcraft with Sgt Heaton, starting to learn about camouflage and concealment. The application of camo cream always comes with mixed success!
Two cadets attended RAF Syerston this week to complete their blue ATP; this is the first step of four levels of training to building upon a cadets aviation knowledge, with the opportunity to go solo as training progresses. At the end of the day both cadets were awarded their wings by Group Captain Moriarty, Officer Commanding No.2 Flying Training School. Our thanks to 644 VGS for delivering a great days training.

Congratulations to our cadets who have achieved a windfall of academic qualifications. One leading cadets classification plus 6 first class classifications. In addition to this FS Witham passed his Method of Instruction assessment with Sqn Ldr Bates to achieve his instructor cadet qualification.
Many thanks to all who attend the Annual Quiz and Curry Night, special mention to the Civilian Committee for organising and hosting, especially Rebecca Anelay and Sarah Algar for the fabulous food and to Quiz Master Dean Price.
Thank you to everyone for your on going support.
After a lovely meal everyone now has their thinking caps on, round two of the quiz coming up soon!
Queues are forming for the lovely curry options on offer, many thanks to the Civilian Committee for catering.
Before They Were Famous - who has any guesses??
We are not only fundraising for the squadron tonight, but also Cpl Algar who is undertaking an expedition to Sri Lanka.
Set up and ready to go for the Annual Quiz and Curry night, mouths are watering and brains are warming up!
