2 Old Mill Cottage, Rosedale Abbey

A short drive, or a good walk (some steep slopes) from the cottage, but well worth the visit. Meals are substantial, our advice is, miss out on the starter, otherwise you'll struggle to do justice to the main course. It's dog friendly, always busy despite it being in the middle of nowhere and it has a good range of beers etc.

Rosedale's Chimney Bank... it's still navigable, even in this weather, you just need some skis...

Looks like the lorry blocking Chimney Bank has now been removed. Not sure whether it is open to vehicles as yet. There are still road signs at the bottom of the hill warning the road is closed.

Chimney Bank is normally closed off in the winter season following adverse weather. I'm surprised the driver even considered going up, or down, that hill. One in three, in parts, the steepest public road in the country.
