It was perfect running conditions on Sunday for cadets from Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire wing who traveled up to RAF Cranwell for the inter region X-Country competiton. Cdt Nia Collins represented 2484 in the Junior Girls competition and with 1k left to race she moved her self from 4th into the 3rd place position to take the Bronze medal and secure a place in the region team. Thanks to her efforts and the rest of the junior girls team they placed a 2nd over all in the junior girls category. Acting Wing Sports Officer FS Buckle said that “Despite Cdt Collins clearly struggling in the last leg she battled extremely hard to catch 3rd and take the bronze a perfect finish” Congratulations Cdt Collins a very well ran race.

On Saturday 26th January Cdt FS Ella Rule traveled up to RAF Honnington for the wing shoot. After her last wing shoot she was unlucky to narrowly miss out on gaining her marksman badge so this time she was determined to achieve it and she did in fantastic fashion. Not only did FS Rule attain a score of 56 points to gain the Marksman badge, but with the coaching of Sgt Hornsby and the other range staff she then went on to get a perfect score of 60 and all 15 rounds were within 65mm congratulation Flight Sergeant Rule. Thank you to all the Wing staff for running the shoot.

MONTHLY REPORT
It’s been a busy month for all at 2484 and a month to remember for 2 Cadets in particular.
We start with Cadet Oliver Rogers who in mid July earnt a much deserved Promotion to Corporal. Cadet Rogers had consistently demonstrated a high level across all ATC areas, his transition since joining the ATC has been brilliant and he has met every challenge with great enthusiasm. We are sure he will be a great and effective addition to the NCO team at 2484.
... We then go to Corporal Brangwyn who has had a very busy month. On Saturday 14th July he attended the ACLC (Air Cadet Leadership Course) at RAF Cranwell, in the week that followed he was taught assessed and challenged on a multitude of areas such as Command Tasks, Leadership Theory, Physical Ability, Interviews and Leadership Particle Exercise in the field. Corporal Brangwyn graduated the course on the Friday earning himself not only a Gold Leadership badge but a qualification and valuable experience.
It didn’t stop there as Corporal Brangwyn was then bused directly to the Cadet Drill and Ceremonial Camp, This was another week long camp where cadets are taught drill to a high standard as well as Rifle Drill and Continuity drill. Cadets are also given the opportunity to take part in activities such as clay pigeon shooting and rock climbing.
Upon his return to the squadron on Wednesday 1st August Corporal Brangwyn was Promoted to the Rank of Sergeant and now joins the SNCO team.
On the 4th August Sergeant Brangwyn and Corporal Rogers joined the rest of the Squadron as our annual Camp in Wales where cadets took part in a large variety of adventurous training activities such as climbing coasteering, walking, swimming and sea kayaking ect. All Cadets involved thoroughly enjoyed the experience and had a great time.
The Busy period doesn’t stop there as this week Cdt Banks, Sgt Rule and CI Rowson-Brown are all one annual camp at RAF Cosford. (Report to follow)
