A huge well done to the cadets that turned out to Wing Training Day this year. Whilst the focus of today is about competing with other squadrons, it's also a great opportunity meet other cadets, and have fun. Everyone who showed up today performed extremely well, and did an excellent job representing the DF. Great work guys!

Last week, the DF welcomed a new NCO to the team! Cpl. Adams has been at the squadron for over a year and a half and is a well respected member of the group. He recently completed a JNCO course with good recommendation and has also represented the wing in sports activities, as well as always signing up for squadron run activities. We look forward to seeing him blossom in his new post and pass on his experience!

This evening, cadets got the chance to put their map reading and air navigation skills to use during an operations exercise in which they were briefed to plan a bombing run using resources available to them. This involved bringing in lots of the syllabus that they have learnt through their time in cadets and was a good opportunity to show how well they work in teams. Well done to all of them for a successful evening! #whatwedo #aircadets

Tonight we are sad to say a final goodbye to FS Kelly Clayton. Kelly is leaving the squadron as she has been posted to RAF Akrotiri for the next stage of her RAF Career. FS Clayton has played an instrumental role in developing the squadron and has been a phenomenal support to both cadets and staff. We wish Kelly all the best in the rest of her career and we hope to see her again soon. !!!!

RUNWAY AND AIRPORT OPERATIONS - tonight the cadets have started a new project designing and constructing an airfield using knowledge gained from their cadet lectures. The end goal of the project is to construct an exact replica airfield incorporating runway furniture and Nav AIDS in accordance with recognised specifications.

Tonight the cadets (plus some new recruits) were given a challenge in teamwork, being tasked with building the tallest structure out of one newspaper and 10 strips of newspaper. Both teams took a very different approach...
It was a great night for the cadets and at the end both teams had very different structures, but there was one clear winner with Team B's tower being 10 cm taller than Team A's. Well done all!

This evening, 4 cadets received their first class classification. This is the first step of four on the way to achieving their BTEC in Aviation studies but a brilliant return for their hard work. Tonight also saw a new promotion at the DF. Congratulations to Corporal Davies, who is a big character on squadron and takes part often in squadron and wing activities. Much deserved! #whatwedo #aircadets

Last week, cdts Adams and Sylvester represented the wing in junior football which took place in Preston. Along with the rest of the team, they managed to achieve a very respectable 4th place for C+E Yorks! Well done for their effort and congratulations to Sylvester who was invited to join the region team. Also, credit to cdt Davies from the DF who has been working as a coach to the junior teams over the autumn. #whatwedo

This evening's parade night was spent working on classifications, the cadets spent the evening revising their subjects and sitting some exams, to much success. The lessons are a great way to build knowledge of aviation and all go towards a BTEC in Aviation Studies, just one of the qualifications you can gain from the organisation! If you are interested in joining please get in touch for details. #whatwedo

Last week, cadets at the DF got the fantastic opportunity to visit RAF Conningsby. This involved a tour through the BBMF learning about the aircraft and later on in the day, a trip to 29sqn (XXX) to look around the Typhoon FGR4. This was a thoroughly enjoyable trip and very informative. Thank you very much to our hosts. No. 29 Squadron RAF BBMF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
