Now for something a little different... been tasked with designing and making some motorcycle parts. Here is the first part, a headlamp conversion to LED. This used two projector lamps, but needed a custom bracket for installation. Making out of sheet metal, could have been an option, but would have been very complicated due to the amount of compound angles and curves. Took rather a large amount of measurements, so next on the purchase list is a hand held 3D scanner! Any recommendations?
Just hit over 8000hrs!!! Woo hoo!
Almost at 7000hrs! On our bank of printers! Working hard! 24/7
Not posted for a while as getting through a lot of production work, but here is a new bracket made from Z-HIPS. This always gives a nice finish.
Just a simple little shape, but notice no white marks commonly found on the bed side of the print 🙂
Another experimental bracket gone into production, but in green as there is another one that’s very similar and fits in a similar location. This is made from z-Ultrat.
Made from HIPS, here is another custom spacer for a specific application.
These have been on here before... but not like this! This is the production part, Made from Z-Hips and the orientation of the print changed for extra strength.
Valve block for a mock up. Not the best print, but good enough for what was required. The size of the model is on the limit for the little M200. Was a long print time too. For the next one, we’ll split the model and print it in sections.
Did someone say yellow??!!! 🙂 Z-Ultrat in yellow, printed at 290 microns, which is generally quite rough, but did this piece great. Only 15 more to go...
Made from Z-HIPS. Can’t tell you what it is, or what it’s for, just quite an interesting shape. 🙂
More parts from Z-ASA. This time a bracket to hold onto a piece of tube.
Printed in Z-Ultrat these are some spacer brackets that clip onto some sheet metal to hold some vac formed bodywork.
Made from Z-ASA at 140 microns, these are some bespoke holders for indicator lights. This would be near impossible to machine, especially in just one axis due to the under cut. The M200 steps up to the mark again to produce a product that’s not only possible, but cost effective.
Next widget of the day... specialised bracket for a latching mechanism. Could you imagine the cost of getting this machined? Plastic is perfect for this application. Made from z-ultrat and printed at 190 microns with the honey comb mesh.
First print with Z-ASA. There will be over 200 of these, all slightly different sizes, so they have an identifying character embossed on. Used in an outdoor application, with exposure to high levels of UV light, fingers crossed they’ll be ok.
Did someone say balls? 190 microns, random seem, z-hips. 39mm square inside the ball to hold a worktop in four corners.
Z-HIPS at 140microns with a 5O% infill. Honeycomb mesh in z-suite 2.3. Detail in the handle came out well.
