Following years of conflict, future peace will be built by the youth of South Sudan. Our engineers are teaching valuable carpentry and brick laying courses resulting in the refurbishment of a primary school in Malakal.
Through learning new skills there is hope of employment, a crucial step on the road to stability.

2 HQ & Sp Sqn conducted some introductory ABLE training today. Some members of the Sqn got their hands on it for the first time, gained an insight into its capabilities and did some good old pinning and slinging. The training was put on in preparation for upcoming exercises and as a introduction before personnel go on the ABLE course.

A gigantic well done to all those who made us the FIRST #Sapper Regiment and top UK North Regiment in the Army Sports Trophy Competition 18/19.
This was no easy task with so many of our teams getting to the opportunity to deploy across the globe this year. This shows the dedication of all within the Regiment.

Soldiers from 32 Engr Regt & 1 LANCS based in Malakal have been awarded UN Peacekeeping medals for their service in South Sudan. Over recent months their vital engineer support, including the construction of a hospital, and outreach programs focusing on human security have assisted in the Protection of Civilians.

On International Day of the Girl, UK peacekeepers in South Sudan arranged for inspirational female role models to speak to children at a school in Malakal. From a Rwandan helicopter pilot to an Indian doctor, set your goals high and achieve them. #LeaveNoGirlBehind

The Regimental Football team played their first game of the season this afternoon and what a game it was. The game was a double header Army Major Units Challenge Cup 2nd round tie and UK North Premier League match against 2 Signals Regiment and was played at Imphal Barracks in York. There were four debutants within the 32 Engr Regt ranks as LCpls’ Atkinson and Mortimer and Sprs’ Hall and Jones pulled on a 32 Engr Regt jersey for the first time. After a closely contested firs...t twenty minutes with both teams having chances 32 Engr Regt started to show some dominance and raced into a 3-0 half time lead with goals from Spr Henderson 2 and LCpl Atkinson. The first goal was a lovely finish from Spr Henderson after some good build up play from LCpl Atkinson and LCpl Owens. The second goal was a well placed free kick from LCpl Atkinson from 25 yards after Spr Hall was fouled following a mazy run through the centre of the 2 Sigs Regt defence. The third goal was another lovely finish from the lively Spr Henderson after a lovely through ball which split the defence from the always dangerous LCpl Atkinson. The second half didn’t go entirely to plan for 32 Engr Regt and 2 Sigs Regt managed to get the early goal they needed as they started to play more direct. The game was now becoming a scrappy affair and 2 Sigs Regt grabbed another goal to make it 2-3 on sixty minutes after their number ten reacted first to a shot that came back off the bar and calmly headed home. The final thirty minutes were backs to the wall for 32 Engr Regt as we cleared long ball after long ball from 2 Sigs Regt as they searched for an equaliser. On rare breaks forward 32 Engr Regt couldn’t find the fourth goal to put the game to bed and three injuries led to three changes which seemed to cause some hesitancy in the much changed back line. 32 Engr Regt resolutely managed to hold on to the lead though and the hard earned 2-3 victory was theirs. We march on into the third round of the cup and pick up a precious three points in the league. We now await the winner of the 1 Lancs and 5 Regt RA second round tie and will be playing at home in the third round of which the game needs to be played no later than the 31 December 2019. Thanks to 2 Sigs Regt for their hospitality and to the three UK North match officials who managed the game brilliantly.
