Formed in 1982, 3·6·5 is one of the original hairdressing education organisations in the country. Created by hairdressers, for hairdressers to help raise the professional business standards within the hairdressing industry - 3·6·5 has been providing practical support, advice and market leading education for over 30 years.

In the early days, finding salon owners to join 3·6·5 was not easy. Co-founder Leslie Spears embarked on lecture tours, explaining the concept of the business and inviting leading salons to join. Among the founding members of 3·6·5 the Headmasters group, Cheynes in Edinburgh and Richard John in Worthing who are still members of 3·6·5 today.

Paul Mitchell® Luxury Hair Care was originally launched in the UK through the 3·6·5 network of salons, under the vision of Leslie Spears in 1987.
