It’s so much fun working out in a group & its great having likeminded people around you rooting for your success. 👏🏻 By combining things you love to do, maybe socialising or meeting new people WITH exercise - you have the ingredients for a long lasting habit (and a happy one) 🌞
On the flip side, it’s important to remember that there wi...ll be days that you will not want to exercise. You will want to break your goal of forming a habit to exercise. With this in mind, working out with a team helps you commit & overcome these days. Let’s imagine🤔, you’ve finished work, you can’t really be bothered to get your workout in... BUT, you remember you’ve signed up to class & you’ve told your mate you’re going to be there, you don’t want to let them down, so you make the class. Workout consistency ✔️ check!! If you stick to coming to class, you’re habit will form & then it’ll be a part of your life, something you do automatically.
Making routines that, overall, you enjoy & committing to something is vital. Realising that you won’t be motivated every single day & that you need to get habits in place is an important thing to know on your fat loss journey.
Your priorities are to:... ✖️Stay in a calorie deficit ✖️ Keep protein intake up ✖️ Get moving - hit your steps! ✖️Do some resistance training sessions, starting small, but building to 2-5x per week. ✖️Enjoy the process!! Log your progress so you can see your improvements & get stuck in to your routine. ✖️Manage your stress - get enough sleep, take walks outside, chat with friends/your partner, have a bath, read.
You need to create habits to make the above goals happen & for you to stick with then long term (and to carry on some behaviours to maintenance your body composition).
To create a habit, we need to repeat the action. A study published in the European Journal of Social Psychology by Phillippa Lally found that, on average, it takes 66 days to form a habit.
“Interestingly, the researchers also found that “missing one opportunity to perform the behavior did not materially affect the habit formation process.” In other words, it doesn’t matter if you mess up every now and then. Building better habits is not an all-or-nothing process.

12 hour spinathon to raise money for St Nicholas Hospice!
We will be using the stationary bikes at Unit 1 Gym. There will be 2 bikes so you can cycle alongside someone 🙂 Please let me know if you'd like to sign up & what time you'd like to do! Sign up for 30 minutes or for an hour spin!!
Anyone can take part, you can cycle as fast or as slow as you like, as long as you keep pedalling.
... First slot 7am, last slot 6:30pm-7pm!!
When we last did this event we also had a little bake sale going on so that people could come and watch and support & obviously, so you can grab a snack after your cycle.
The gym has toilet & changing facilities if you need to get changed before your cycle slot.
