A privilege to parade at Runnymede Air Forces Memorial to remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice. A year to commemorate 100 years since the end of WWI, a year to celebrate 100 years of the Royal Air Force and a year to inspire the many new cadets by highlighting the importance of remembrance!

It's been a busy summer for cadets from 398!
This good news story happened right at the beginning of the summer and is something every cadet should look in to!
The Air League held their annual reception on Wednesday 6th June at St James Palace under the generous patronage of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
... The reception was an opportunity to present a number of young aviation enthusiasts with certificates and wings following their successful applications for scholarships throughout the year.
One of these successful recipients was Cdt FS Durrell, of 398 Squadron who received a scholarship to further develop his aviation skills.
The Air Leagues 'Leading Edge' membership is a great first step for any Air Cadets aspiring to an aviation based career providing access to newsletters, career advice and lectures as well as scholarships and bursaries.
Applications for next year are open from November 2018 and these include flying, engineering, gliding and space scholarships.
For student membership details be sure to visit www.airleague.co.uk

Another outstanding achievement for 398 Squadron. Cadet Cruz McKeon has returned from camp having been awarded the prestigious WO Gaz Tonks award as overall best cadet at the Corps Drill & Ceremonial Camp. The highly contested award is given to the cadet that gives everything they have to making sure that their personal standards, attitude, commitment and development to the skills being taught. She was selected over 300+ other participants on the camp, many of whom with much more experience in the organisation. Well done Lara for demonstrating the very best of what the Squadron has to offer.

This afternoon three cadets from 398 arrived at RIAT. Ordinarily cadets would arrive by road, however this year, after having been awarded his PPL in January, Cadet Sergeant Durrell flew himself and two other cadets from the squadron to the event. This is an outstanding achievement and great opportunity for all involved. They will be joined by the rest of the Middlesex Wing contingent tomorrow to assist in the running of the air show.

Three cadets from 398 attended the Middlesex Wing Fieldcraft camp on Salisbury Plain this week. They focused on living and working in the field, leadership and teamwork. During the week there were also opportunities to improve their skills in shooting, first aid and radio communications. Well done all!

10 lucky Cadets went to Heathrow on a DofE employability visit to experience different aspects of work at the airport. As well as an airside tour cadets had briefings and visits to APOC, the ATC tower, Heathrow Express and Heathrow Security. Thanks to Fg Off Hurst for arranging the opportunity!
