Great interesting wine.. good food

This is such a good neighbourhood restaurant that it makes me wish I lived in that neighbourhood!

Really interesting selection of wines by the glass (they are also a wine merchant) and a fantastic selection of small dishes (there were only two "main course" size dishes on the blackboard yesterday, but we were most that happy to order lots of "half" size dishes).

The dishes were mostly traditional, the sorts of things like pear salad, which fell out of favour years ago: the brilliant team at 40 Maltby Street have resurrected them fabulously well, with a light touch and using the highest quality ingredients.

If you love food, then it probably is worth going a bit out of your way for, and the food is far better than many more expensive restaurants.

Love everything about this place! Some of the best food and wine in London and the guys who run it are charming. Only open Wednesday to Saturday so check before visiting.

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant serving small plates. The limited menu always delights and can be enjoyed in its entirety by 3 or 4 people. The staff know the wine list extensively and many bottles are available to taste.

Avoid on Saturday's as the Maltby street market crowd dominate.

Always a great atmosphere here. A perfect destination for a date or to catch up with friends. The food solidly delivers every time - serving seasonal ingredients with a new menu every day written on the chalkboard. Choose 3-4 between you and see how you get on, you can always order more from the bar as you go. Definitely get the ham and ask the bar staff what they're pouring, they are knowledgable about wine and will be able to steer you

Lovely service, interesting ever-changing selection of wines and delicious food. Highly recommend this place. Expect a little wait to nab a table or go early.
