What an absolutely fantastic hotel. Great check in, staff were welcoming and we got a glass of mulled wine. Room is warm, large, comfortable and incorporates the architecture beautifully. The shower and bathroom are marvellous. The breakfast was amazing, a massive choice and well cooked, presented and served. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, close to all that Leeds has to offer.

We booked the River Room for a private dinner for a surprise birthday meal. The communication before the evening was brilliant and everything was as asked for. The evening itself was faultless. We were very well looked after & couldn't have asked for better service.

User

Very charming and cosy place to stay, lovely bedroom overlooking the river Aire, great atmosphere, nice lounge and breakfast room, amicable staff.

If I were to pinpoint a tiny flaw, well, this would be the fact that, once they ran out of something to eat on the breakfast buffet, no one was so attentive as to replace them quickly and you had to ask for them, and for extra cups and bowls as well - two mornings out of two.

Moreover, breakfast was a bit overpriced.

All in all, though, it was a great stay and I definitely think I will be staying there again.

This is our second time here - we got engaged here 15 years ago. Hotel was just as good as it was then. Staff were very helpful, complimentary wine on arrival. Lovely breakfast. Our room was lovely with views of the river. Will be going back!

User

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are really sweet. Amy on reception was really helpful and lovely. We booked the love package and stayed in room 306 with a river view. Really high ceilings with beautiful furniture. Can't wait to visit again

User

Second stay at this lovely hotel. Greeted with a complimentary glass of wine. Room lovely again. Easy walking distance for shops and restaurants. Beautifully cooked breakfast, we will be back! Thank you

Loved this hotel. Checked in and welcomed with a glass of wine....good start! Given directions to the Car Park. They have a deal with nearby markets Car Park. Shown to the room which was really spacious, over looking the river with lovely old touches such as the timbered vaulted ceiling. Good size bathroom, tea and coffee facilities and home made cookies. It's these little touches that cost a firm little but makes it personal to me. Great location for the centre and for the Armouries. Will definitely stay again.

PS ring the hotel directly for a price as that way proved cheaper than TripAdvisor and Trivago.

PPS Amazing breakfast!

Great little Hotel, staff on arrival very helpful ,room nice ,great location for everything

Would recommend for a central stay in Leeds rather than the larger corporate hotel chains

User

Amazing night spent at 42 the calls to celebrate our Anniversary, thanks for the complimentary upgrade to the penthouse suite, it made what was a fabulous weekend extra special. Will most definitely be returning soon!

User

Amazing hotel. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Checkin isn't until 4pm but with emailing them two days prior to see if they could make it early to 2pm - they said they would try. On day of arrival, I got an email to say it was ready for check in.. at 11:30am! They obviously work hard to get their customers anything they can do anything to help. The rooms are gorgeous and the bed was very comfortable. Views from the room was nice too. Overall, I would definitely recommend and would love to return.

User

A lovely hotel. Comfy bed, tasteful and quirky room, peace and quiet with a room looking out over the river and a super breakfast. We will be back.

User

Beautiful property, breakfast really nice, staff welcoming and nothing was a bother. Bed a little uncomfortable and could do with better pillows, room decor however was awesome . Sign for 'not drinking water' should be larger!

User

The hotel was nice on arriving with as mentioned a complimentary glass of wine. Our room overlooking the river was large and had lots of character with the old beams. Some things did let it down, we had to ask for the bathroom to be cleaned as it hadn't been done very well, a lot of the furniture looks like it has seen better days, the toilet wouldn't flush properly and the receptionist just said you need to be gentle with it, we couldn't make it flush properly. A nice hotel spoilt a bit by a lack of attention to detail.

User

Lovely room with a big comfy bed and nice river view from our window but the service, although welcoming, was not up to scratch when you consider the price paid for one night. We had problems prior to booking, with simple requests like breakfast & a late check out, and had to confirm our requests multiple times before we arrived, to have to reiterate them once there too. We would probably stay again as we enjoyed our room and it's a walkable distance to the places we were interested in but I feel their service could be improved.

User

It's a little better than ok, great nights sleep, lovely riverside views, nice friendly staff but clearly needs a refurb...bedroom carpet had seen better days, bathroom sink all stained, shower attachment an old plastic old people s hone style thing and the windows almost all blown making the room seem more run down than it was.

Pity as with these issues addressed it would ve been a 4 star

User

Hotel is in an excellent location within seconds to the shops and bars. Greeted with a glass of wine on arrival. The double room was large clean and suitable. Dissapointed that I was advised by the hotel to park the car in the NCP market carpark nearby and the hotel gets discount for customers staying in the hotel to then find out in the morning there was no discount and paid £24 for over night stay !

User

As far as the building and the bed goes, it was very good value.

The communication was dodgy at best prior to my stay. Initially I had try to add breakfast on to the price of my room, but was never really told if this was ok or not - it was more like a 'you can sort that when you get here.'

I also arranged a late checkout - which was confirmed via email during my booking, but then telephoned by the receptionist an hr after 'normal checkout', who asked when I was leaving as it was late. I informed her I'd arranged a late checkout and had this confirmed via email, which she then checked and seemed to agree. I felt this was a little iffy with regards to internal communications between customer correspondence and staff.

The 'sleep' on telly didn't work and the 'guide' option also didn't work.

On a very positive note; the view was decent, river view, the bed comfy, and the breakfast...

The breakfast was 'room service' to a point, where you fill in an item request sheet the night before and your breakfast arrives at your preferred time in a hatch accessed through your room cupboard - awesome!

User

We had a good nights sleep, but we were somewhat disappointed with the overall room. We'd booked a delux double & the carpet was stained, furniture was threadbare. I was really looking forward to staying over, but the room didn't unfortunately live up to my expectations... The bed was very comfy, and the view from the room was lovely to wake up to - to put a positive spin on it.
