Hello, everyone! Just a quick post regarding the Tuesday quiz. Hopefully, we can get some more quiz teams. Several people have spoken to me about the quiz over the past couple of months and it would seem there are a lot of misconceptions still in evidence. So, to help clear some of these aside, I think it's necessary to let you know the format as it is slightly different to the standard Saturday night quizzes we have held previously.... Unlike the Saturday quizzes, the winner of the Tuesday quiz gets to win a token cash prize of £10 and gets first chance at the jackpot. The jackpot is a running jacket where we add £5 - if possible - to the pot each week. To win the jackpot, you have to successfully negotiate a 'card' system similar to the Strike It Lucky TV show, i.e. the pack of cards contains death cards (hot spots); move-ons; a smoking gun (which means you fail immediately!); random questions and specialist subject questions (you get to choose one subject from a list of over 50 different subjects). If the quiz winners don't manage to win the jackpot, then we draw a team at random and they get the chance to take the jackpot. There have also been concerns that the usual winners of the Saturday quizzes, i.e 'The Tosspots' are bound to be the winners of the Tuesday quiz - this is not so! 'The Tosspots' have won 13 of the 41 quizzes (just under 32%) and have yet to win the jackpot. In fact, there have been 6 different quiz-winning teams throughout the 'season'. The jackpot has been won only three times - by 'Togs' (twice) and 'The Summer Fruits'. So, why not get yourself a quiz team together - and it can contain non-members - and come along to support this club event? I'm sure you will enjoy it and have a laugh or two into the bargain!
