487 are extremely busy this weekend with cadets at JNCO course and gliding. 3 cadets are learning the basics to been a Junior NCO with CWO Jeffries and CI Jeffries on the camp as supporting staff. 5 cadets and one from 495 Sqn have also attended 644 VGS squadron and though the wind be too strong for gliding the cadets have taken to the simulator and have completed their PTT course. Thank you to 644 VGS for hosting this opportunity.

Well done to our own Cdt Jawara from 487 Squadron who attended and successfully completed the PTS Blue Badge Comms course on Sunday. Hopefully his first qualification of many. Well done also to all the cadets that attended.

Seven cadets have worked very hard at the Squadron to successfully complete their Heartstart, gaining confidence and experience in delivering essential emergency First Aid. Well done to you all!

Congratulations to FS Armitage and Sgt Shakespeare who both received their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards tonight. Completing this has taken months of hard work and dedication and both should be very proud of their achievements. Sgt Shakespeare also received his CVQO certificate this evening, so a double celebration for him. Well done to you both!

Six CFAV staff members from Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing have completed the EAAS DofE Assessors course today, which will allow us to assess DofE Bronze and Silver expeditions. In attendance were Michelle, Rob and Greg from 487, James from 479, Paul from 496 and Jeff from 1289. The day was very enjoyable and we've all come away more knowledgeable and ready to put this into practice.

Three members of 487 Squadron staff are currently on the 'Introduction to the DofE' course at RAF Scampton for the weekend. We have just successfully completed the course and will be carrying on to the Assessors course tomorrow.

Yesterday 6 cadets from 487 SQN attended a blue leadership course. Putting their teamwork and leadership abilities to the test. Each one had to complete different exercises and show the ability to not only lead a team but be part of the team. All passed and can now look to complete their bronze course. Well done and thank you to 2030 SQN for their support.

Following our successful Fundraising Bag Pack today at Asda One Stop, we've done the final count and we've raised just over £1,000!! Amazing! Well done to all involved and a big thank you to Tracey Wassall for organising this event with Asda. #RAFAC #WhatWeDo

487 Squadron completed a fundraising bag pack today at Asda One Stop shopping centre. The cadets were in high spirits and received many compliments on how smart they looked and how well behaved they were. A real compliment to the RAFAC. Many thanks to all cadets and staff who took the time out of their weekend to support this. Thank you to Asda for allowing this and thank you to the local community for supporting us.

Photos from today's Bags of Character training course with 487 Squadron staff and Hattie from 495. Fantastic day of training, excellent facilitator and much learnt, whilst having loads of fun and laughs. All involved have now gained an accredited qualification by completing this Institute of Outdoor Learning (IOL) accredited course ‘Facilitation Skills for Experiential Learning' which means we can now pass on what we have learnt to others. A very worthwhile day.
