Why does a Sports Massage sometimes hurt? Muscles are designed to move constantly. They are stretched and contracted during the day, they are also contracted and shortened when we exercise. This results in the muscles becoming tight, therefore blood flow is reduced causing more tightening. This means when you go for a massage the muscles are sensitive to touch. The more pain you are in the more frequent treatment is required. The more supple the muscles the less painful it will be. To help with this, I recommend: Rolling out on a foam roller, stretching after exercise, yoga and frequent Sports massages.
